Question about Canon PIXMA iP4200 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Color is all wrong regardless of cartridge or cleaning.

Deep cleaning and cartridge changes have no effect on color. Pink tint, faded colors, missing colors.

Solution suggested but he was a MAC user and I can't find same on PC. Suggested I change the printer driver default to color matching from vendor default but I can't find this.

Please help.

Change the cartridges. Very very common problem with 4200's cartridges. From my own experience this is the only solution.

I have been printing photos and they have come out beautiful. Suddenly the colors are all muted, and brown hair has a green tint. My printer is an HP 6180. Nothing has changed - same paper, ink...

It sounds like one of the colors is not printing correctly. I would suggest , opening your hp solutions center programs and under tools you will find an option to clean the print heads. Follow the procedure to cleans the print heads, after cleaning open control panel on the computer and depending on the operating system click on "printers" (XP) or "devices and printers"(vista win7) right click on your printer( hit your right mouse button) select " printer properties" click on print test page. This page will print out showing each of the colors separately. You should see black, blue, pink and yellow. If one of these colors is missing or muted you will now which color is cratinging the issue. And at that time I would try changing the corresponding ink cartridge. Hopefully the print head cleaning will resolve your issue

When I print pictures, they print with a pink tint. But when printing text, it comes out black/normal. How can I get rid of the pink tint?

Try to the clean the nozzles of your color cartridge. Refer to this article in the Lexmark website on How to Clean the Print Cartridge Nozzles with the Lexmark X7350. If problem continues, try to insert a different known working cartridge to deternine if your color cartridge is faulty.

Printer colors cause green/yellow heavy tint to pictures.

Alcohol was not good to clean cartridge nozzle. I recommend to use cartridge cleaner and deep cleaning after that

Clean off the bottom of your color cartridge with a slighty damp tissue to make sure the whole doesn't have ink stuck in it. If that doesn't work then its possible the ink has dried up in the cartridge and youll have to replace it. How old is the color cartridge and do you print often with it? If so if could be running low.

Canon i860 won't print deep colors

I had similar problem: everything muted and with brownish tint. Tried everything, finally discovered that I installed wrong cartridge: 6PC instead of 6C. The "photo" cartridges are pretty much the same, make sure you have the right ones: 6C, 6M, and 6Y.

Printer color problem

The ink cartridge cleaning process can be performed even with the alignment message showing in the display. Follow the steps below to perform an ink cartridge cleaning process from the front panel:
  1. On the front panel, press Menu or Setup (depending on the model).
  2. Press the Right Arrow (>) until Maintenance or Tools appears, and then press the Enter or OK .
  3. Clean ink Cartridges should appear in the display. Press Enter or OK to begin the cartridge cleaning process. A page will be printed during the cleaning process with all of the colors on it. If any of the colors or the black are missing, faded, or streaked on the alignment page, there is a ink cartridge problem.
