Re: changing bearing on hotpoint FEW12??

Welll its a long job.

first remove the top
then the front control panel.
disconnect any wires connected to the circuit board.

then remove the front panel with the door intact. to do this you must unscrew the the screws in the top and bottom and remove the screws for the door inter lock as well as undue the door gasket from the panel.

Then you got to remove the concrete weights. and pull the pegs in the legs from the drum side.

Then you got to dissconect the drainage at the bottom of the drum from the pump
remove the wires from the solenoid and disconnect the pressure switch from the small plastic tube.

undue the tubing from the soap draw to the drum
remove the clips near the springs.
undue the front metal panel which the board was connected to and remove the drum

if you need anymore help dont be afraid to ask.

Does the outer drum on a hotpoint WT540

All outer tubs on most Washing Machines these days are sealed.
Therefore you cannot split the tub to get inside and change the bearings. instead you have to change the whole tub assembly as a complete unit. Not an easy job.

It's a hotpoint wf541g washer, I've read the

You can buy bearings but the only way to confirm the exact sizes used is to dismantle the machine and then you will be able to identify the ones used, The main reason they suggest a new drum is sometimes the bearings will not come out or go in easily and can cause the drum to crack which means you would need another drum if this happens.

Sounds like bearings are shot, makes loud noises on fast spin. is it a big job to change bearings?

If you believe it is a bearing then the answer is no unless you don't have the proper tools. Second of all did you check if your machine is mis-align and rubbing to make that noise. Just a suggestion before you tear into the machine. Good Luck

Hotpoint WT540 Bearing Change. I have got the drum out but I am having problems spliting the drum. Is it bonded or are there any tricks I can use to split the drum without destroying it

If there are no visible screws or other obvious means of the 2 drum halves being joined together, then it is not possible to change the bearings, as it is a one piece drum.
Current models are one piece, earlier models had screws securing the drum halves together,
Hope this helps..

Hotpoint Aquarius WF 430

Best way to check if the main drum bearings have gone is to;
  1. Remove back panel of washer
  2. Remove drive belt.
  3. Spin drum by hand from the inside of the drum, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main bearings have gone.
If there is no apparent noise, then you will have to investigate further.
If I can help further, pleas let me know.
Plz rate my solution.

Machine banging when in fast spin

if the noise is coming from inside the drum then it will be the bear ings if this machine is less than 3years old then this is what bust hotpoint they changed the bearing setup and put a spring on it which its the spring that is the complete failure u need to take the complete drum out strip this put the new bearing set in but without the spring this wil put at least 2-3years on the bearings its a big job and costs about £120 to fix u r accually better off buying a completely different washer no good are hotpoints anymore m8

Hotpoint first edition wma 11 drum bearings removal

Hey kevin that outer cone of the front bearing is a mission im telling ya...

But from experience ive found that by cleaning around it ( i use a metal brush on a drill ) and using wd40 and letting it soak in for a few hours its makes like a lot easier,,

I use a bolster with an end similar to a crow bar to just get inbetween the tiny gap and a very big lump hammer to know out the cone.... Best way knocking it from side to side ie bottom the turn the back half of the drum round and knock the top then the sides,,

hope this helps....

cheers mate..
