DVD tray will not remain closed

My DVDR04 is several years old but has been used very little and was stored for about two years. I've hooked it up and the remote control seems to be able to work all functions, but, the drive tray will not stay closed, even when I turn it off.

Re: DVD tray will not remain closed

Try this. With the tray door still open and the power on, press and hold the play button until the door closes. If you hear the disc loading the door will remain closed for play and record.

Have the same problem - works for me!

Re: DVD tray will not remain closed

I had this problem with one of mine. There is a switch on the door that tells the DVD player that the door has reached its fully closed position. On mine that switch was bad. It is hard to find and it is a very cheaply made switch.

Door will not open

I hear ya, I have two Ilo's like that myself! There is a small rubber band that goes around two pulleys that open and close the dvd tray they get worn and won't let the door open. Sadly I can't find any to replace them. you can slap the top of player to open them which I have done but after awhile it starts to hurt! lol Finally I bought a dvdrw like goes in a PC and set it up on top of my player. I opened up ILo took the strap and power supply from old recorder and hooked them to the new one. don't look pretty but works. But you will have to make sure you get the right type all will not work. The burn speed on the ILo 4 to 8x Ide DL. Hope this helps.

Wont read discs

follow this steps, and use the common sense.God bless you
If the player skips, make sure that the DVD disc is not dirty or scratched..Use the cleaner disk buy it from R. Shack.
If the tray won't open or close properly, check the belt for dirt or wear. Then check the tray for misalignment. If needed, remove, clean, lubricate, and reinstall the tray following the instructions in the owner's manual.

How do I get the tray to stay closed on my iLO DVDR04

This is normally caused by a small loading belt that has stretched and the tray can not complete the cycle to close the door properly thus causing it to open.

DVD tray stuck in the closed position

Is it jammed?
Still has a CD/DVD still in it?
Is so try cycling the power to see if it will kick it out.

Otherwise it's most likely a hardware problem like a bad tray motor, broken gear, or perhaps a bad/stuck switch on the tray assembly.

If it's still under warranty, call the manufacture technical or customer support for a possible replacement.

Dvd drawer keeps opening up on its own and will not stay shut?

There is a switch located at the front of the player right under the DVD tray. This switch tells the player that the door is completely closed. If this switch does not operate, then the Ilo will re-open the DVD tray thinking that something is jammed. Might want to try replacing that switch

ILO DVR 04 Will Not read

your dvd writer is bad, because there is not enough air in side the box. it over heated, the fan inside is not big enough. you are one of the lucky ones, if yours even lasted a year. i had 4 go bad on me in six mouths returned to walmart and replaced up your box and unplug the strap from the player and the power line from the back of the dvd recorder. if you have a computor the power and strap hook up the same.way. what you need to do, is order a dvd recorder on- line,a 8 speed and 20 speed will not work. it has to be a 16 speed dvd recorder.and a dual layer chould help. i got mine from sams it was a 16 speed LG internal super multi dvd/cd rewriter, but i think all they carry now is a 20 speed.if you get one, i would just leave the old one in ilo. and do a little carving on the back of the ilo caseing to run the strap and power cord through and ontop of the ilo. just sit the new recorder on top of the ilo it may not look good sitting there but it will last a lot longer that way i went through about 200 different brands of dvds before i found out what was wrong with mine good luck i hope you get it fixed. e-mail me if you have any quistens.thanks ronpar

Tray will not open

My ILO was doing the same thing, then it stopped doing it. It then suddenly would not recognize any media. I opened up the case and found it is using a dvd lite-on recorder. I had this old pc laying around with a gigabyte dvd recorder in it. For a test, I unplugged the lite-on and plugged in the gigabyte recorder. On power up, it seemed to work fine. After recording 3 DVD's I modified the case to accept the hew recorder. ** problems since, its not pretty, but it was easy to get the unit functional again.
