Question about Uniden BC92XLT Handheld Scanner

Uniden UBC92XLT Scanner

Hi just bought one of these scanners second hand and although its great I can't seem to get the Local Call working. I downloadedthe manual from Unidens site but notice my scanner doesnt have the Local Call symbol on the keypad under the 'Hold' button as indicated. Do you know if there was ever a previous version of this model without Local Call as no mention made on Uniden regarding this.

Also despite the description stating that there are I think 8 service scans, mine has only 2 - air and cb.

I am wondering if someone has put a 92 front on a less spec model and conned me.

Appreciate any help you can offer.

Remove the battery for a hour. Put the battery back in. Press down at the same time and hold the #2 and #9 key when you switch it on - that will do a factory reset on almost all Uniden scanners. Then release, push manual, program, enter frequency of the local weather station and you should hear it.

I recieved my fathers Uniden Bearcat BC80XLT after he passed away and I cant seem to be able to figure out how to re-program it for my area. I have the local scanner codes and need a little assistance...

Yours is a fairly simple one to program, and the best instructions are in the factory manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here:

BTW, they're frequencies, not codes, and you can find a great database for your area at:

Hi im new to scanning i bought a uniden ubc92xlt handheld scanner bit dont no how to scan propley anyone can give me any tips how to use this for police taxies planes regards paul

Programming and operating the UBC92XLT is fairly straightforward, and detailed instructions can be found in the factory manual. If you don't already have this document, you can download and print it here:

The above manual is for the USA model BC92XLT, but the two scanners are nearly identical.

foursons, have you tried resetting the scanner yet. On pg 47 it mentions about turning banks of channels on or off. Possibly some banks got turned off. Resetting the scanner starts on Page 53.
I hope this helps somehow, and good luck with it,, Mechanic

Change from analog to digital

There are digital scanners available, but their use may be limited, depending on what you want to listen to.

A lot of scanning enthusiasts have spent a lot of money, only to discover their new digital scanner is useless.

Many emergency services are on digital BUT, they are also encrypted, so even with a digital scanner, encrypted transmissions cannot be heard.

Before parting with your cash... do some research on what digital signals can be heard in your area, keeping in mind that although some digital services are currently transmitted 'in the clear' there may be plans to encrypt them later.

Hope this helps.
