This is the exact same problem which I am facing at this moment. I opened the Case of the monitor. I saw that there are 2 small buttons with a extended rod attached which goes into the buttons on the Monitors body. I saw the Contrast button and the brightness and the Menu button are stuck. I also saw that the monitor pads and the monitor sensor board has complete rust. I think I have to change the button pads and the Monitor Board. The same thing I am seeing in your case. I think this is a cause of Excessive moisture content in the air which is causing rust and jamming of Buttons.
