Question about HP Compaq Presario CQ50-103NR Notebook PC

Got power, frozen machine

I can't seem to get this laptop to boot. It froze while I was watching a DVD. The fan was on full blast and that's when I got nervous. There isn't a reset button and it would not respond to ctrl, alt + del so I switched off the power. Now, the computer wont boot. It will read a DVD but the disk led will not come on to let me know if the cpu is reading my harddrive. I have taken out the battery and powered down. I removed the cmos batt and rebooted and nothing, the laptop will not reboot.

Won't start but CPU fan vibrates but will not go full blast. Intermittant

It appears you have a faulty CPU fan and it is causing the CPU to overheat and shut down.
I suggest you replace the CPU fan. remove any dust from the heatsink and put new heatsink compound on the CPU/heatsink.

Make sure the cooling fan for the laptop is not obstructed in any way or is not dirty. It's pretty common for a laptop to get plugged with dirt from normal use. Get a can of air and blow the machine out to remove dirt, lint or debris.

You could also have a defective battery, but try cleaning the machine first.

HP Pavilion DV6700 won't boot

Possibly overheating? As you say that when you press and of the F-Key option nothing is happening, and also the fan is running at full power, if the fan is louder than usual, then it could be overheating in the air vents which you can find either at the sides, back, front and underneath the laptop, try getting the compressed air, and giving the air vents a blast to get all dust out. Or a vacuum. Do it whilst laptop is turned off though!

Toshiba laptop stuck

try to use the restore cd.. .. select boot from the cd/dvd and boot the repair features with the OS

look at the boot screen that initially shows up and get in the setup.... switch the cd/dvd to be the boot device that starts first...

run the cd/dvd installation normally until you find a repair feature.....

then follow the standard repair method

Freeze when power cord plugged in

the problem is in the battery of your laptop.
change the battery of your laptop.

to make this shure, just remove the battery from laptop and turn on power through adapter only. it will work fine.

Pre-recorded dvd won't eject/entire system frozen

Try unplugging the machine so it will reset itself. Then plug it back in. That has worked for me in the past.

T30 startup problems...

We can start with the easy stuff first. Move the memory chip to the other slot. Remove the small square plate on bottom of the laptop. You'll need a really small screw driver for this. If you have two chips, remove one and see if the laptop will boot-up.
