I cannot find the water filter on my Whirlpool ED5CHQXKB04 fridge

There is a generic type of water filter that fits all Whirlpool and KitchenAid refrigerators with a water filter located in the base grill below the door.

The Whirlpool fridge requires a water supply connection to a cold water line. Before you connect the water supply to the water line on the fridge, make certain the unit is unplugged from the wall. I'm not sure I understand your question, so forgive me if I'm incorrect. I'm confused as to wether your whirlpool has an internal filter or if you have an external stand-alone unit.

I have a samsung refridgerator and the water filter is inside the fridge located at the back on the upper right. In fact, all Samsung RAF/AES models come with this internal filter. Depending on where you buy it, often times the delivery guys will set it up for free. They will simply disconnect your old fridge, remove it , reconnect the water hose to your new Samsung and be on their way.

If you choose to do it yourself, simply remove the old fridge, follow the hose to under your sink and remove the old one. Run the new house by attaching it to the appropriate place on your sink and over to the back of the fridge. Also, many modern homes have a cold water tap behind the fridge, so you might be able to connect it there if you do.

Either way, whether you have an external unit or inyernal hose

Depending on the model, it is inside the fridge.
Some other models the filter is on the bottom grille, twist kind.
Look for your manual or look for those clues

Have you changed the water filter. It should be located in the front loer grille of the refrigerator.

Make sure that the water filter is the right one and that it is pushed all the way in. If that is correct than There should be two solenoids located behind the fridge at the bottom one is for your ice and one for water. Unplug unit and test the water solenoid with an ohm meter across the two terminals if it ohms out or beeps than your solenoid is bad.

Make sure you have water to the fridge and then make sure your filter is pushed in all the way. If thats not it
