Re: access denied

Using Admin logon, open mmc and go to disk management.
Right click on C: drive and click "Properties", select "security" tab and click "advanced" button, select "owner" tab.
Choose new owner and check the "replace owner" check box and "apply".

Access Denied Error on external hardrive

You don't have rights to the folder. Right click the folder --> Select Properties --> Security --> Advanced --> Owner and then change the owner to your user. Here are some instructions from Microsoft for taking ownership. Once you own the folder then you can do whatever you want.

I can't open pen drive and it shows access is denied,

It happened because your "pendrive" contains one kind of trojan horse. Please scan by some good antivirus.

Good luck.

The possible couse of that is your hard drive is infected of virus, try to scan of updated antivirus, if not try to back-up your hard drive, and format in desk management.

Could not open - acess denied

Carefully examine your Kingston for a tiny physical slide switch! You have probably accidentally moved that switch into the "LOCK" position!

Hope this helps!

Accessing a folder.

This will sound off the wall, but we had something similar to this happen with my last laptop, where it was "access denied" in lots of areas, and we would have to find little backdoor ways to get into control panel and document files. The problem with our computer was that it had previously crashed, and we had rebooted and reinstalled the xp, but didn't have the registration number, so it would run ok, but to get into all those access denied things (which you eventually need to get into) we had to come up with our registration number.
Did it prompt you to enter the product key when you re-installed it?
