The dishwasher should have a thermal fuse mounted to the control board behind the operator consoleKenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem - 4.gif. It is a small silver colored device4.gif attached to a white plactic bracket. In some model dishwashers the wrong gage wiring was used causing the wires to heat up and trip the thermal fuse. There was no apparent risk of fire or anything like that, but the thermal fuses didn't tolerate the heat differential too well. A fix for the problem was to purchase a thermal fuse replacement kit (found at most appliance repair stores) that had thicker wires. The part number for the thermal fuse kit is 959376 and the price is $16.85. You can find it at Order on line and have the part shipped directly to you. access the control board perform the following:

1. Turn off the main breaker to the dishwasher. This is important. Even though the dishwasher is not running, the control board still has live voltages present.
2. Open dishwasher door and remove the top screws that hold the console in place. You shouldn't have to remove the lower screws unless you plan on removing the entire door panel.
3. The control panel should pull off from the front enough to where you can access the control board. There is a thermal fuse mounted on the board with two wire leads going to it. The fuse is silver in color and mounted to a plastic bracket which is mounted to the control board.
4. Cut the wires on the old fuse and splice the new fuse kit to it. Leave plenty of wire to accommodate. There will be instructions included with your replacement kit. Ensure you follow the direction thoroughly and tighten the wire lug screws securely.

NOTE: Do not attempt to reuse the existing wires by simply unplugging the old fuse and replacing it with the new one (been there). The fuse will eventually blow again. Follow the instructions provided and you can't go wrong.

If you have any further quesitons, or if you run into trouble during your repairs, let me know. Good luck to you.

PS If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number I provided you to any major appliance repair shop4.gif and they SHOULD have the part available. This is a known problem and a common fail item.

If the dryer does nothing at all, it's probably the door switch. Give it a good look over. You Does the light com on inside when you open the door? Does it appear to have power but just won't start?

Just dead. Doesn't light up or start or respond.

You will need to replace the power supply most likely. If you can find a fuse or relay, check with an ohmmeter to determine that they are good. You can use a voltmeter to determine that there is power going to the control panel.

Kenmore elite smart sensor model 110.6506 wont run

Many different possibilities. Could be thermal fuse, timer / control, motor. Start switch, or door switch. Most likely need to call service unless you have means to troubleshoot and test parts.

Kenmore HE 5 electric dryer, no power

With the dryer unplugged, remove the lower panel under the door. To remove, you will need to loosen the screws under the bottom fronyt edge. With the screws removed, the panel drops down a little, then comes off. Check the Thermal Fuse located on the blower fan housing directly under the drum. This is a white or gray plastic component with 2 wires. Take a resistance reading across the fuse. You should get a reading of 0 ohms (or very low resistance). If the fuse is bad, your problem may be solved. A blown thermal fuse will kill the entire dryer. In addition, if the thermal fuse is bad, it usually blows for a reason. Make sure your dryer ventilation is clean and clog free. A dryer that is clogged will overheat to the point fo failure which causes internal component failure. Not to mention, this is a fire hazard. Please check and let me know. If the fuse is still good, the problem may be with your main control board. The fuse is the more common and least expensive option to try first. I hope this helps you. Let me know what you find...

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem

I had this same problem so I took the front panel off to access the thermal fuse.  What I found instead was that food had become lodged in the door latch which was keeping the door safety switch from operating properly.  I took a thin screwdriver and removed the food from the cavity.  Since you did not have the problem in your first five years the cavity just might be the problem since that is about the amount of time it took me to get too much food stuck in mine as well. This solution took five seconds and requires no disassembly.

Kenmore elite microwave

Does the digital display light up at all? Is it completely dead? Are you sure it has power? Have you tried another outlet? If the outlet is good and the unit is completely dead, the internal fuse may have blown. You can try to take the cover off (with the unit unplugged) and look for a blown fuse. Try replacing the fuse with an EXACT fuse of the same rating. Try plugging the unit back in again and see if the unit comes back on. If not, you may have a power supply issue or defective Magnetron.

Please let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

Good Luck,
- Jim
