Re: canon rebel won't power up

If you have only one battery (or only one device to test the battery with), it is hard to determine if the issue is the battery or the camera itself.

If possible, I would recommend trying a second battery if you have not yet done so. Maybe a local camera store might have a display they could possibly allow you to try at the counter.

If the problem has persists with multiple batteries, unfortunately it sounds like the camera needs to be serviced.

Remove back cover and check for missing screw - especially check if it is touching the orange wire that powers the back light for the rear LCD that s part f the rear cover. Screw that is loose is almost always the bottom right screw that holds on rear circuit board. If it is not there and you see the empty hole, it could be anywhere in the camera, so you will have to keep on disassembling until you find it.

Rebel T2i won't power on

I had this problem and thank you to the gent that suggested there was a battery compartment closing detection mechanism. I have a battery grip and had removed that to register my t2i (needed the serial number on the bottom) and never checked operation after replacing. I toyed with the lever using a pen and noticed the red light flicker. I replaced the battery grip with batteries and all is well.
Sometimes we need a nudge to dig deeper... I had looked at the possibility of a door closed switch much the same as the the switch on the sd card door. I took a second look and found it. Thanks a million for jogging my analytical brain!

How do you adjust internal mirror in Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera?

The mirror won't affect the picture, since it flips out of the way when you take the shot. It's much more likely that the lens mount has loosened or been knocked out of alignment. Unless you have access to a precision optical bench and other tools, I'd suggest taking it into a reputable camera repair shop to have a trained professional do the job.

Camera still dead with a new charged battery. Is it possible to overcharge a battery so it won't work?

If you have another battery definitely give it a try, most likely it won't work either. The problem is probably the fuse located on the DC/DC board that has 'blown' causing there to be no power. Replace the board and the camera should work fine. Canon will probably charge $175 or so for the repair.

Hope this helps.

Canon EOS/Rebel XT won't power up

Joe, this happened to me, just tonight... I got a new CF card and stuck it in, turned it on and one CF card flash. Completely dead from there. I found one of the CF card pins bent over, shorted out the socket and blew the mainboard fuse. I took the camera apart, found the fuse (labelled K) about under the set button area) I bridged the fuse with a bit of solder, straightened out the pin in the socket, put it all back together and it's working fine. The fuse is under the right side shield cover, it's labelled with a letter K. There is another fuse on the power inlet board (below the shutter button) and it's labelled 'P'...
