Getting my mp3 player to boot up it freezes

My mp3 player turns on but stops at the pearl logo and won't go any where else just stays on that until I take the battery out of the back. Can someone please help me?????

I have the same unit, which I think was great value for money, but occasionally it refuses to start up (it hangs at the welcome screen). Whenever it acts up, the solution has been to reflash/upgrade the firmware.

Download the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery,
  3. hold the play button while plugging the RCA player into your computer's usb port,
  4. release the play button when the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
  6. click the start button to replace the firmware.

This solution will fix your player.

You will need a software update. You can get it from disc or manufacture's website.

RCA pearl th1602-a with new battery will not power on. Old battery will power on, but freeze at pearl logo. Player dosn't power on when plugged into USB of computer
Try a firmware recover. Download the firmware update from the RCA website and install the app. Start the updater and connect the player holding the PLAY button until it gets detected.

It freezes on the logo
Export your music onto your desktop, be sure you transfer your XML file as well... then reformat your mp3 player to FAT32.. the place your music and the XML file back onto your mp3.

SD card will not stay in
I have the same player, you must insert the mem card until it clicks into place, this locks it in the player and should take care of the prob. Just keep pushing til you feel the click.

My RCA Pearl TH1602 will not completely boot up. It starts with the Pearl logo and then looks as if you had tried to drag the logo and shows the logo in 3D and lock up
You have to download the firmware updater from audiovox and manually update the firmware to get it fixed. Morethan likely it will only last for a couple of weeks, then you'll have to do it again. A real PITA but it's the only way to keep mine going. Here's the website for the updater

this is because u did not remove the player safely from the pc.. hence such problem.. do a format and a virus scan and continue..
