Re: monitor

Boot in safe mode and set monitor for VGA. The target is to get vista drivers for your video card. If the above works, go to manufacturer and get vista driver for video. Is video built-in or added? If added, move monitor cable to built-in (onboard) and retry.

If you have another (mac) pc available, you can create a USB key with your MAC OSx install disk. Put it in a USB port, and reboot. If there is no hardware malfunction, it will start the installer, and you can try to 'fix' the installation.

hi there:) i need to clarify a few things to help you better. 1) make & model # of your computer 2) do you mean that you restored the BIOS settings to factory condition? or do you mean you did a factory restore to the operating system?...i ask this because the settings to do what you want should be in the bios which you access by turning the machine off and back on again and wait for a prompt that says press f2 to enter setup or press escape to enter setup (depending on what computer you have) but DON'T BLINK or you will miss it. hope this helps but if you need anything else just ask:)

When we turn our dell computer on, the Dell logo comes on, then the monitor goes black with cursor blinking in the upper left hand corner.

Start the computer hand hold down F8. Then you have a menu where you can chose to start windows in safe mode. If you can get in, check your log files to see what the problem is.

No monitor display just blinks every 2 sec.

Check if you have several connectors for monitors, and if the cable is plugged in properly.
In case the monitor has a cable with removeable connector, check if that side is plugged in properly as well.
If you use onboard and graphic card together, try to switch from what you try to use now, to the other one (ex. using GFX card now, switch to onboard connector if available, and see what happens). In case your pc/laptop is in standby, push the power button for a second.
If your pc beeps on startup (that's called post signal), consider the mainboard manufactur for the beep code (a few short and/or long beeps). For example, a common but not obvious reason for this problem can be not properly installed RAM. If all that doesn't help, check if the monitor works on another computer. If not, then it might be broken or might need a new cable.
