My camera out of nowhere started stating zoom error. Of course I was on holiday and as of now I can't fix it. I did not spill anything on it. It just started doing it for no reason.

I just got one from Newegg.com. It was a refurbished item so I knew I was taking a chance. Straight out of the box it gives me a "zoom error" and will not take pics or even display an image. From what I've read about this it is most likely something in the zoom mechanism and needs to be fixed by the factory.
The only thing you can do is send it back to be fixed. I know this isn't much of a solution.

I accidentally poured something on mine and got the zoom error. Immediately, I removed the batteries and left the camera to dry, careful not to touch the lens with my fingers, using cotton buds and soft cloth (similar to what you would use to clean eye glasses) to clean the lens. After a day, the camera dried and now works ok.
My advice to those who pour something accidentally on camera, remove batteries immediately and leave it to dry completely, before trying it. Hope this helps, somewhat...

Hi, we have the same problem. When camera is switched on an alarm is sounded and we get the message 'ZOOM ERROR'. Evidently this is a known problem with this camera. For those thinking of buying one... DONT.
