My Brother has been whining about a drum for over a year now, and still printing just fine. As long as it prints good, I say ignore it. If it stops completely, see if you can reset the drum counter to get it going again. These companies just want to get us to toss our machines as soon as possible. Google drum reset for your machine if you have to.
If you do a lot, lasers are great. Ink units are money pigs, but will do color cheap. Check the cost of ink or toner before buying any. See if you can get your toner or ink refilled locally. On some machines you can refill the toner yourself and save a lot.
