each rechargeable battery has its own life cycle(no. of cycle of charges & cycle of discharge)after that the battery gets damaged OR poor discharging capacity(not charging as specified)

for digicams it is better to use rechargeable batteriesrather than using the use & throw battery.

Batteries do not last but a very few pictures. Even rechargeable ones drain very fast

In DSCW7 Camera, you can use NH-AA-DA (Ni-MH) batteries (this is the supplied one) or Alkaline batteries.
With the LCD screen on, you can capture upto 190 minutes when using the supplied Nickel metal hydride batteries.
When using the Alkaline batteries, the life is only for 35 minutes.
This is a normal operation of the Camera.

The actual battery life will vary depending on how the camera is operated and what functions and types of batteries are used; using zoom and flash frequently will shorten the battery charge.

The average recording time of the battery as listed on the packaging will vary due to several different factors, including ambient temperature and the power consumption of the camera. The battery package states the power consumption specification needed to achieve the average recording time. If the camera power consumption is more than the specification on the battery packaging, the average continuous recording time will be lowered.

Also, batteries discharge faster when used in cold weather conditions. In cold environments, it is recommended that batteries be kept in a warm place before using. Sometimes batteries may recover some power if they are warmed up after being in the cold.

When using alkaline batteries, do not mix new batteries with used batteries. Doing so may reduce the battery life.

How to extend battery life on your cellular phone

A few very easy ways to extend the life of any type of cellular phone.

1. Lower the brightness setting.
The screen (or the display) takes up most of the battery charge. By reducing the brightness, you decrease the power consumption of the entire device.

2. Set the screen to lock, or darken after a short interval of not being used, as apposed to the usually default 30 seconds.
Just like i mentioned above, the screen takes the most power, so why should it be on if you aren't even using the phone?

3. Disable vibration and sound after each button press.
Vibrating the phone, and making noises naturally takes battery, by disabling this, you will get more battery life.

4. Avoid keeping the camera on for long periods of time when not taking photos.
Contrary to what some people may say, the phone is NOT always recording what is on the camera at all times, and is only functional when you enter camera mode, at that time it consumes A LOT of battery power, so you should avoid keeping it in camera mode for long periods of time.

5. Turn off Bluetooth / Wifi unless you are using it.
Bluetooth / Wifi consumes a lot of power when running, it should only be enabled when you are actively using it.

6. Do not play games.
Playing games consumes a lot of battery power. if you don't have a lot of battery and are trying to make that last bar last, you shouldn't be playing games on it.

If your phone is a smartphone, an Iphone or an Android, you can try download or using power saving applications to help manage your battery.
also, make sure to close any background processes to use less power.
How to Maintain and Extend the Life of Laptop Batteries

Laptop battery is one important component that must be considered in use. Many laptop users admitted the batteries drop and not durable when the laptop is still fairly young age.
68c5924.jpg

How to treat the batteries to make it more durable and can be used much longer? Learn some tips that are mixed following.

Set the battery power

In Windows there is such thing features power options. Through this feature you can adjust the power consumption of a laptop. The trick is very easy. Click the Start button, then open Control Panel and then double-click Power Options icon. Will appear a dialog box with a Power Option Properties. Then select the Power Schemes tab. On the drop down menu will have six options, namely Home / Office Desk, Portable / Laptop, Presentation, Always On, Minimal Power Management, and Max Battery.

Try click on one of six choices. Setting the turn of the monitor, hard disks, System standby, or System hibernates time will vary, depending on the option you choose.

If you want a more durable battery, you should choose 'Max Battery'. This option will save battery usage because it only requires a minimum processor speed such as to read the documents or check e-mail. Max Battery will affect the speed of the laptop in the sense of a laptop's performance will decrease.

Do not let any device 'parking' on the laptop when not in use

Often, allowing laptop users have the device plugged in the laptop - whether it's cable digital cameras, USB memory stick, PC Card - though such devices are not used anymore. Make sure the appliance is unplugged from the laptop when not in use because it will drain battery power.

Notice the use and recharging of the batteries

Do not half-hearted when to recharge the battery. Charge up to full 100 percent. If the battery is running low, the rechargeable battery back up to full but do not wait until the battery is completely empty. This will make the battery capacity to work well.

To note again, remove the battery from the laptop if you do not use the laptop for a long time. Would be better if the laptop plugged directly into the adapter if you will work in a long time.

Reduce the brightness

Webuser.co.uk launch that the LCD will eat battery power. Therefore you are advised to reduce the brightness of a laptop as minimum as possible but still comfortable to the eye.

Use the Screen Savers 'Blank'

Screen saver is turns out to drain the battery. Therefore, use a screen saver 'Blank'. The trick, right click on Desktop and select Properties. It would appear the Display Properties dialog box, then select the Screen Saver tab. On the drop down menu there are a lot of screen saver options, including FlowerBox 3D, 3D Flying Objects, 3D Text, Blanks, Marquee and so forth. You are advised to choose 'Blank' and set the time waiting (Wait time) up to 2 minutes and then click OK. This step will make the battery more efficient.

Reduce resolution

Another way to make the battery last longer is to reduce the screen resolution and number of colors used in laptops. To reduce it, you can right click on the Windows Desktop and select Properties. In the Display Properties dialog box select the Settings tab. Then set the resolution slider by pulling it to the left to reduce the resolution. Then in the drop down menu select the color quality (color quality) is lower, and then click OK.

Turn off Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi certainly participate actively consuming the battery consumption. If it does not intend to take advantage of wireless access, or to the Internet, make sure the Wi-Fi in the dead so that batteries last longer.

Have a nikon D80, sometimes when turning on and taking a photo the battery drains to no charge. have to turn off and back on again and camera works ok. have tried on existing battery and on a brand new...

HI,

You can try updating the firmware if it is possible first. If this doesn't help then try removing the batteries off the camera and allow the camera to reset for an hour and then put them back.
If this doesn't help then You need to use 2500 or higher rechargeable batteries - as soon as you switch to this type of battery, it will work fine!

Your camera requires four AA size batteries. There are several factors that contribute to battery life:

NiMH: This is the best solution for enjoyment and cost savings. NiMH batteries typically last longer per charge than the average alkaline batteries. NiMH batteries are rechargeable batteries, so they can be used several times and thereby reduce the expense of continually purchasing new batteries. NiMH batteries are typically sold with a power adapter for charging. The life of these batteries can often be determined by the mAh rating, the higher the mAh rating on the battery, the longer that they will last. NiMH batteries do not have the memory effect associated with NiCd batteries, which means that these batteries can be recharged at any time and at your convenience (you do not have to wait for the batteries to completely drain between charges).

Lithium: Energizer has introduced a new series of Lithium batteries that provide optimum performance and long life for disposable AA size batteries. Laboratory studies shows that Lithium batteries last more than three times as long as standard Alkaline batteries. This means many more hours of fun and satisfaction with your digital camera. These lithium batteries are not rechargeable, they are long lasting.

Alkaline: Using the LCD display, downloading images, playback, zoom and flash all require some battery power to operate and may decrease the number of shots per set of batteries. Performance may also vary based on the Alkaline batteries selected. To significantly increase battery life, be sure to turn off the LCD when it is not in use. The LCD consumes the most amount of battery power. The benefit of being able to use alkaline batteries is that you can find then almost anywhere if needed.

Manganese: If you are using manganese batteries, the typical battery life will be about 2 - 5 shots. Then the camera will indicate that battery power is low and may shut-down. To avoid this experience, use either Alkaline or NiMH batteries.

Optimum Solution: Use a set of NiMH batteries for longer use and to reduce the expense of continually buying new batteries. It may also be a good idea to keep a spare set of NiMH batteries for other devices that require AA size batteries on a regular basis. Use AA Alkaline batteries when the NiMH batteries need to be recharged and you want to continue enjoying the use of your camera.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution as fixya..

It may only happen enter date and time if you remove the battery in the camera., If your not removing the batteru out of the camera you should not recieved that message, unless battery is out of charge or no power.

You should use this battery Kodak Li-Ion rechargeable battery KLIC-8000. This is a special battery for Z812 camera,

Note: You must also need to purchase a charger for this type of battery.
I guarantee you it will provide stable longer power for on your camera

Help with s630 Digital Camera

Rechargable batteries actually do not recharge the 100 times advertised. After maybe 10 times they are reduced in capacity noticably. For instance, new alkaline batteries will last me maybe 60 pictures, however the rechargables are only good for about 5. To test this try taking out the batteries, and put back in before you wish to try them, also turn off the flash if it is not needed.(flash uses a lot of power)
