Tosheiba Netbook NB205-N210 2 GIG, upgrade to Windows 7

I personally have not but if you are concerned how it will run, you should be fine, windows 7 is very efficent on resources.
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
These are system specs so if you exceed these then your laptop will run great.

    Hope this helps

MT3705 Gateway, what motherboards will work with this laptop. I want to upgrade this laptop, so i want to get a motherboard able to really max out my ram but still use this chip set and everything else on...

You don't get different mainboards for laptops.....sorry. It's not like desktop pc's where pretty much any mainboard will fit. And even if you could, it's not really going to improve things, as you are using the same speed cpu. Your laptop has 2 ram slots. That's the most you will see on laptop mainboards.

Adding ram is probably the best bet. That laptop shipped with 1 gig of ram.....which is not enough for Vista. I bet it's quite slow. Vista wants 2 gig of ram to be happy, and 4 gig to really motor along. Laptop ram is cheap for that machine, so check it out. Ram is not expensive, and will give you an immediate, very noticeable improvement in performance.

Hope this helps. Post a comment and let me know how you make out

To startup, I have to press to On/Of button 2x or even more. Sometimes, the startup begins, but more and more, nothing happens. It seems that even the bios won't startup. This problem with 2 of these...

Frist Rfix your battery and RAM memory.
then check if problem still remains then you have to reset bios setttings .

For that you have to open back side of laptop.
Then you find mother bord chip set.
Pull cmos cell from mother bord for 15 seconds then refix it then check.
you can refix Battery and RAM from back side there is 2 small plate RAM plate is up on battery plate.Let me know if you have any confusion .

Is 1 gig of ram enough memory to support vista to run?

Hey there you want to use vista?? lol good luck. You need a min of 2 gigs ram to run vista but should ideally have 4 gigs for good operation. vista is a memory hog. You can change the configuration to use less but still need at least 2 gigs

Error message after installing memory ram upgrade.....

The memory appears to be the right kind.

Try installing just one 1GB module, and run the diagnostics (press F12 at boot time and select diagnostics).

Good luck!

Sony Vaio VGN CR-220E

I had such dreams too with one of my old Vaio. I really wanted to upgrade the processor and graphic chipset. Turns out that the latter is impossible (it was soldered to the motherboard - it wasn't a graphics card, just an all-in-one chip), as for the processor I was able to take it out but I ran into several problems:
1) vaio added electronic components to the motherboard that made higher CPU speeds unachievable even if the motherboard's cipset (VIA) was able to do that.
2) the cpu maker (AMD in my case) kept telling me that their mobile cpu were custom designed for that specific laptop, so new cpu would be incompatible. Also mobile CPUs are, apparently, only sold to laptop makers, unlike OEMs... (eBay but at ur own risk!).
3) When buying a new CPU, u need to check factors such as the number of pins (mobile cpu are much smaller), voltage, current, wattage and heat dissipation (very important, ur current heat sink was designed for ur current cpu).

But maybe things have changed now. In my case, I could only upgrade the RAM and the hard-drive to larger and faster versions, and the difference was quite significant difference. Faster booting and better internet experience.

Upgrading acer laptop RAM

You Can Actually Upgrade This To 2 Gig Memory.
Each Slot Will Take 1 A Gig Strip.
I,d suggest Buying another 256 mb Strip, To Put Into Slot 2.
Or Buy a 512mb ( Half Gig ) Which Will Give you 750mb With your Existing Strip Already In There. ** Recommend 1 Gigabyte Max** 2 gig of Ram in This Baby Would Probably Start Glowing.
You Can Buy DDR/266/333 In 256/512/1 Gig Strips. These Are Commonly Known As SD-RAM-Modules.
