Blue Screen (Dell Dimension 3100 PC Desktop)
Here is just a suggestion.
If you power on the computer and get nothing but the "blue screen of death", there isn't too much you can do. If you still have the initial installation CD that you put in the day you got it, insert it and let the computer start up from the disc (if not automatically recognized, it can be done through BIOS). If you don't have it you'll be able to go online (from a different computer) and get a copy of the disc for little or no charge. Once your computer is back up and functional, go to the windows support website and run as many updates as you can.
More than likely you will lose everything.
I had a dell inspirion (I forget the exact model) that worked great for a few years and then completely died on me. I went online at my mom's house and got a new disc, I don't know if they charged me but you should be entitled to a free disc, just pay the shipping. Long story short I got the disc, put it in and reset my computer. It worked great for a few months after and I wound up selling it to a friend who has done further updates and it has worked fine since.
Good luck and happy holidays!
If this has helped you in any way please help me by giving me a good rating. Thanks!
