Sony Handycam DCR-TRV250 Digital Camcorder Logo

C:32:23 The camorder was working perfectly a few days ago (recording and viewing) but today I went to watch a previously recorded cassette and the camcorder kept bleeping and displaying the error C:32:23 with a flashing ejector button underneath. After powering off and powering on again a few times it eventually ceased to bleep and appeared to fast wind and rewind but would not play. When I ejected the tape it was damaged. I put in another tape but got the message again and now that tape is jammed in. I dont understand how this can suddenly happen when, the last time I used it, it was fine. I dont have another camcorder to test if it's the tapes. In the next 2 weeks I should see my son who has a compatible camcorder so Ill test it then.

This is a common problem with alot of Sony CamCorders...The solution is simple.....GIVE IT A WHACK!!!

Seriously, Take the battery off the device, Give the camera a smart "smack" on the tape side of the unit and power it back up.

works in 90% of cases!!!

There is clear colored IR LED in the centre of the tape transport that may have come loose in it's silver clip or the sensors have come unclipped on either side of the tape transport. Take great care to reattach them. Wacking it probably moves these parts around and with any luck won't move them too far.

Hello try to used and external headset to make sure the speaker is not the problem, if no audio come out the headset when you are listening watch the red light indicator and talk if the red light blinks you unit may have the internal record switch broken and you may over recording your tapes you can send your unit to repair but I think is cheaper to get a new one, you can get a similar one at http://www.tvps.com/Products/SONY-M-675V-Micro-Cassette-Recorder---New-M675V__SO-M-675V.aspx

Microphone not working

I would do a system restore. Windows probably made a backup before you installed the updates. That should take care of it. System Restore is really safe so don't be afraid of it, it's very useful.

I have a canon ES 970 I was wondering, whether its possible to re use the cassette I have already recorded once on it and I have so many cassettes collected

You can record over previously used cassettes, but the recording quality may not be as good as with a fresh cassette. If you can find a bulk eraser, you can completely wipe out a previous recording and get near-new quality on your recording.

Re: Model PV-4523S

You can try cleaning it with a VCR tape cleaner to see if the pinch roller have build up on there. It could be that the motor isnt feeding the tape up against the recording heads properly and may need an adjustment. If you can take the top cover off, you should be to see what the problem is by the way the tape is being inserted into the machine.

Hello, I hope you are having a good day today.

In finding a solution I would like to know the model number of your Thompson product.

In the mean time, most DVRs have a hard drive. Recordings will stay on the hard drive. If you want the recording saved onto your DVD then you need to choose the record option from you menu.

Please let me know if this helps. And give us the model # if you can. Thanks

Good luck.

Choppy Video

I had same problem. Don't buy a cleaner. Look inside camcorder and make sure both reel turners are equal in height...they can slide down. Turn both of them...one of mine was down and also did not turn to make contact with tape. We got it to turn and the message C31:23 and the dinging quit. Camera instantly worked like it used to. Good luck.

Sound but no picture.

if you are able to playback previously recorded cassette and the picture is perfect then its not the head. then the problem is with the image grabbing section i.e. the CCD. May be its damaged and needs replacement.

Cannot record or play

I had the same thing happen to my Sony DCR-TR7000 NTSC. I plugged in the AC power supply and it worked fine. So I fully recharged the battery, removed the Hi8MP cassette that was in it, put in a new one. The problem went away and when I reloaded the old cassette, the problem was gone. Don't know why, but this process seemed to fix it.

No tape icon when the tape is installed

Alot of times dirty tape heads can cause this issue. Try loading a Digital Head Cleaning Cassette into the unit, and let it clean the heads. Many times this will solve the problem. Also, make sure it's not the 'wet-type' cleaners, as this will cause damage.

For the record issue, make sure the tapes do not have the prevent erasure tabs set - this is on the bottom of the tape, and is looks like a tab that says ERASE OFF or SAVE.

Not much else that can cause this issue. Never force the tape into the unit, and never hit the unit to get it to work. If nothing works, then I would suggest taking into a service center for diagnosis.

Hope this helps some.
