More than likely not. I would start by making sure all coils are clean, (both evap and condenser) and to make sure airflow is not being obstructed. Most factory charges appliances don't leak refrigerant and therefore should not have to be charged during there useful life. Hope this helps

It was a confirmation of what I thought, but still no water, even at 35%.

stops running . The unit will sit there for a few minutes then repeat the cycle over again. It is not just the fan that comes on , it is also the compressor. There is a inch of water in the bucket so it does remove some moisture. There is no ice on the coils and the coils are clean. I have it set for 3hrs on and then 3 hrs off at 50% humidity level. If I remember correctly in the past the fan would run the entire 3 hr cycle and the compressor only ran when needed. It is 4 yrs old. I sent it back last year under warrenty( nox expired ) because it did not remove any moisture. They said it had a leak. They fixed it. I used it the rest of last summer. I just started using it again this year.
