I found I could get at the mirror assemby by unscrewing the philips screw on the front-inner side of the door, nearest the mirror, then "pop" the fasteners by pulling on the door cover and lifting it out of the window tray (might help if the window is down). The top corner of the door can then be pulled back about four inches, which is all you need (I propped it open for the remaining steps). Then unscrew the speaker cover (I think it's a T-20 size star head) and remove the foam backing. Now you can get to the bolt holding the mirror on, which is a 7/32 star/hex head (IIRC). Screw that off and disconnect the wire clip, then your new mirror should fit right on.
