Checked voltage at convergence board +22 and -22.
Checked low ohm resistors on conv. board, they seemed fine.
Tried to unpluge power connector at convergence board and set still has no power.
Do'nt here the high voltage come on when powered up.
Can see the heaters light up on all 3 crt's.
Maybe power supply problem?
Please tell what to check on this TV.
Checked HOT for power and i got plenty on the collector over 1000v. The base showed less than 10v if I remember right. There was no high voltage kicking in at all, so I checked part of the fly back for voltage. I downloaded a schematic for a for a samsung 4416 chassis, which is the same as the 4298. Voltage at pin 10 or 11 should be 117v, I had nothing. Traced back from schematic and found r465( 0.47 ohm resistor} was open, but not burnt. Replaced it and everything fired up. This resistor acts like fuse. A 25cent part can kill a 1000 dollar tv. It works now and I am happy
If you know aything about tvs which it appears you do check to see if you are getting voltage to the horizontal output ckt at the collector of the horizontal output transistor if you are probably you either have a horizontal drive or output problem if you are not check to see if you have either fuses or icps or pico fuses are open generally you will see about a 135 volts to yhe hoizontal output ckt.

do me a favor, if the set is still together, please remove the back, and find the convergence card... it is on the upper right hand side. Unplug the RED plastic plug ONLY. Now try to turn on the TV. If it turns on, but the picture looks completely out of convergence, then yo uneed to replace the 2 STK392-040 IC's and you will have to test all of the 3.9 ohm resistors on the board. You will usually find 1 or 2 bad. let me know what you find.
If you have an ohm meter, check the resistance from F9A04 to ground, and then reverse the leads and check F9A05 to ground. These supply +24 and -24 to the convergence integrated circuits. The conv ic's may be bad. Also, code 24 usually indicates vertical deflection failure as well. One other check to make.....The pic tubes on this set may leak a few drops of coolant onto the boards. Look VERY carefully for liquid drops on the boards or a green and or white corrosion spot or two on the boards under the pic tubes-near the front of the chassis.
After replacing ics did you ck for opened resistors low ohms 1.5ohms etc...You must get print out of How To Enter Service Menu for convergence it will tell you which numbers control which colors to move up and down to complete alinement for convergences. You must have your hand unit the one that came with set It has all the controls you need to be able to enter service menu!I will check to see if i have How to enter service menu.for this set.
Mine had the same symptoms. It was the convergence board. I replaced it and all is fine. the part number is BP95-00142E and is available from vancebaldwin.com. It's simple to replace...
you can check this before you buy the part. take off the lower back of the tv. Convergence board is on the right in about the middle of the tv - top of the lower part of the back. comes off with one screw. you can unplug the power (mine was a red plug), then plug the TV back in and it should come on. If it does, picture will be bad, (it can't converge the tubes, obviously), but you should see the picture.
