Question about SanDisk Sansa m240 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Sansa logo appears-nothing else

Same problem as apparently everyone else: in either mode, the thing initializes then is stuck on the sansa logo. Yep, its firmwre is 4.0.44a. The USB mode doesn't do anything different and the PC can't see it to even format it. This little pink SanDisk is one worthless piece of garbage. Will never recommend Sandisk anything to anyone. Waste of time.

Re: sansa logo appears-nothing else

Hey have you tried installing a flash player I believe thats the format it works on, It should be installed with your windows media player but maybe it is not. You can try that and see if it works after that, I sure Hope it does, When you plug it in you can't see it in my computer under F disk or D or E disk, try it no promises but I am trying for you Oh yeah Look in your device manager when you plug it in and see if you get a yellow Question mark by a usb connection, If you do open the properties on that mark and update make sure you are on line when you do this, Man I sure hope this helps u out I hate when something just won't work and its something simple, Well If not I will research more for you, It makes me mad It won't work for you. Let me Know Hey and Happy Holidays

The screen is stuck on a screensaver and it will not turn off or do anything

It often happens when it doesn't a file is corrupted. If it gets stuck on "Refreshing database", turn it off by holding the power switch until it shuts down, then plug it on a computer and when the sansa logo appears, unplug it. It will skip the datebase refresh and you'll be able to reformat it.

Sansa plugged into Ipod music player - won't work now

Yep - it's a sad thing. iPod docks have ruined many a good mp3 player. Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from Sandisk's website (make sure the Sansa is not plugged into the computer yet). Once the Recovery Tool is downloaded, connect the Sansa to the computer while holding in the REC button and continue to hold it even after th player is plugged in. It should go into Recovery Mode in 10-15 seconds or so.

Sansa clip froze up in play mode

First, reset.
If that fails, then try to download the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool from:
If that still fails, upgrade the firmware from the Sansa website
If that fails, uninstall the software from the installation CD and reinstall it from the Sansa website.

Stuck on initializing screen

Call Sandisk support. This is a known problem with this model that was sold in December 2006. Apparently later models fixed the issue. They will get your info and do an RMA, and they even provide the UPS shipping label.
They were great to deal with. I hope you have the same success.

Sansa Hack!!! please help!

You device is too full. You need minimum 6MB for the "music database". The more music you have, the bigger the database needs to be. Try freeing up 30MB or so, that should solve it. Please add to the question, dont select NOT HELPFUL if this didnt work. Best of Luck.

This is happening alot aparently, Sandisk is telling everyone to just reset it but that aparently isnt really working. only suggestion is to set the USB mode to MTP and try it.

Gray Screen

I had a very similar problem where my Sansa would turn on show the initial logo then fade to a white/grey screen and restart. To fix it started in recovery mode (Start in hold mode with rec button held down) then used the firmware updater to update the software and it seems to had fixed the problem hope this also works for you

Sansa m240

Hi. I'm having the same problem with my m250 and am concerned, since I've only had it for a month. Nothing I do, including removing the battery, hooking it up to my computer again, or holding the power button down for a long period of time works.
