In trying to download the new map update to my unit, I have managed to hang up the magellan in a loading mode and it isn't loading. I rebooted my computer as it said to do in the initial set up to download, but that has messed up everything. Now the magellan is displaying only "LOADING..." and the computer says it can't find the unit. I don't know how to reset the magellan or to get my computer to "find" the unit again. Now I have no navigation at all. Don't have a clue what to do.

I don't know if this is much of a solution, but from what I understand from my extensive research on this product (I bought one online and have been trying to get updated maps), Magellan no longer supports this unit. I looked on their website to confirm, and on the "Scheduled Map Updates" list, the Magellan 300 has no further updates available. Apparently, this has been the case for the last few years.
You can go on Magellan's website and they have software downloads for the operating system. If you want new maps you have to pay about $80, also available on the website, but I don't think it's worth it for this unit.
i use to own a 700, i advise you to get the new magellan mastreo 4000 or higher,i did my research and the magellan700 roadmate is no longer being serviced.that is what the magellan website has had showed and someone on here also has said it and they start to have alot of problems.i own now a mastreo 4000 so far so good no problems.
I would avoid map updates from Magellan like the plague. They have a strange way of frying the units. Unless you want to be without your GPS and fighting with Magellan for months, leave the map software the way it is.
