How to use a sony handycam dcr-sr80 hd as a web cam?

It is not possible to use the Camcorder as webcam using USB interface as the Camcorder does not have the USB Streaming feature.

You may connect the Camcorder to the A/V input of the Computer to use it as webcam.. However, it is required to use a software which is compatible for capturing videos from A/V interface to use it as webcam.

Searching for driver for NV-GS80 on windows vista platform.

Do you mean a driver for the webcam portion of the camera, or to transfer footage to your computer from the tape? If you mean for footage transfer, then you are in luck, because no driver is needed. You just need your video editing software and it will communicate with the camera over the firewire port and cable.

If you did mean for the webcam feature then you should be able to download it from the support section of

Use sony dcr-sr40 as webcam

unfortunately for this model, it would not be possible to be use as a webcam. it uses HDD as its recording media. it may actually work if you have: a/v capture card installed in your computer that connects to the a/v jack of the camcorder.
2.a webcam application software that supports a/v connection
basically, you would need a camcorder that that has a usb streaming feature and a computer that has an OS that supports it (i.e win xp),or you can use ilink (dv or ieee1394) connection So you should be using a digital-8 or dv works perfectly as a webcam.of course, your webcam software should be designed to work with whatever connection your using.hope this info helps.tnx:)

You can use the USB mode to connect to a printer or a host PC. Before connecting to a printer or PC, refer to Installing software and drivers on the page 76 of the User Manual.

When the video camera is connected to the computer or printer using the USB cable, one menu displays in your monitor.

Use the joystick to highlight an option and press the scroll wheel inwards to confirm.

You can select PC Camera feature, when you set in this tag, the video camera can be used as a webcam for video conferencing.

I hope helped with this.

Samsung SC-MX20B as webcam?

I don't know where you are reading that it can work as a web cam. If it doesn't mention it in the documentation that came with your camera then it can't.

If you are referring to the YouTube upload feature, that did not mean "live", You record the video first, then upload it with the included software.

Using camcorder as webcam

Hi there and welcome to FixYa.

You can use this as a webcam, but there is a limitation that your going to have to find a way around. It has an auto-off feature where after you don't do anything for 5 minutes, it turns off.
One way that might work is to turn the demo-mode off. You can do that in the menu. If that doesn't work, your going to have to do something with the camera every 4-5 minutes to keep it turned on.
If you have any other questions, leave me a comment.

Thanks for coming to FixYa.

Camcorder keeps shutting off when plugged in - how to disable power saver?

Simply remove the tape from the camcorder, and it should stay on. If you have a tape in the camera, the auto-shutoff is activated assuming you wish to record to the tape, regardless of the firewire connection to your PC.

Disable standby mode

i have a panasonic. its not the same kind as yours but i was trying to use it as a webcam as well and had the same issue. i read the manuel and it said that it goes in auto standby if its on pause for more than 5 minutes. so i figured id just take the tape out. its not on pause so it wont stand by. i didnt think it would make a difference. but it did. i can use it as a webcam now. hope this helps
