Question about Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player
Might be easier to swap hard disks rather than screens. Usually, Connect to PC indicates a faulty hard disk.
This can be checked as follows:
Connect HDD player to mains adaptor and plug in.
Connect to PC.
As player starts up, press and hold "Power On" and "Vol +" at the same time until screen goes blank.
Quickly press and hold "Vol -" until PC recognises player as a removable drive.
If the player shows up and allows access as a removable drive (E: F: G: H:.... etc) then the drive is ok, and the unit probably has a corrupt firmware, which can be corrected.
If the player shows as a removable drive but you get an error when trying to access it via "My Computer" , then the hard disk is probably faulty.
Back cover removal:
You need to make sure the two black screws either side of the connector have been taken out.
The back panel has clips on both sides.
Volume side - 1 at the bottom, and 1 next to the volume control
Opposite side - 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom.
Try sliding a metal strip ( about 5mm wide) in at these points.
If the strip doesn't slide in, gently lever the casing apart at the corner with a flat blade screwdriver.
Hard Disk Removal: Undo the four screws in the corners of the metal plate, and gently remove the plate and the connector surround. Gently lift out the hard disk by pulling the blue rubber protector upwards on the opposite end to the hard disk connection. Gently pull the hard disk away from the connection by pulling slightly one side at a time. Swap drives and re-assemble.
