You can definitely use a VCR with your DISH 625 receiver. To set this up you would need to connect your VCR between your receiver and the TV.
The easiest way would be to run RCA cables from the TV Out to the VCR's TV input. From there, all you would have to do is run cables from the VCR's Out to the TV. Make sure the VCR and receiver are powered on and change to the input on the TV based on where the cables are plugged in on the TV.
Hi abracadab628my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and after reading over your post andthere is a simple solution to your recording questions. You can connect you're Phillips/Magnavox DVD/VCR and run it through the DISH Network receiver and set thetimers up on your VCR/DVD player.
The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR. The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV. The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.
It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input. & VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.
Hi piautewith the VIP622 receiver connecting to your DVD/VCR player you will need theinput/output jacks. To setup recordings to your VCR/DVD player, you will want torun from receiver output to VCR/DVD input and from VCR/DVD output to TV input. Thefan on the VIP622 receiver is just like the fan in a computer tower. Even ifthe receiver is off the fan will still run to keep unit the right temperature foryour DVR receiver.

It sounds like you need a three way splitter.
You need to reverse the connections; the splitter has input and out. Hook exterior antenna, converter box, and satellite to the three side terminals (out). Hook the single sided terminal to VCR input. Connect the VCR out to the TV input. This configuration assumes that you will be using the VCR to record from all inputs. The TV has to be set to channel 3 to act as a monitor for your other devices.
Hope this solves your dilemma.
Take the output of the Satellite box to the "In from antenna" or "in from cable" then out to TV from the VCR to the TV. TV should either be on 3 or 4 depending on what the satellite box is set for
hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

ZNREL, I've done this with Dish Pro before. Setup the Dish remote to control the Mag combo in the VCR position. Press the SAT button and select the guide. Go to the program in the guide and select it. The "record this program" routine should pop up, set it up. Here's the key, make sure the Dish remote has the VCR button selected and that the remote is placed where it can "see" the Mag combo. At the set time, the Dish remote will change the DishPro to the proper channel and then issue s "record" command via infrared to the Mag combo to start recording. DishNet has all of the device codes to their remotes downloadable from their site.
