My Amilo Li1818 has the same blank screen

As far as the disc drive goes, regardless of if it is connected to a properly running system or not it will start to read a disc. And BIOS is an internal setup menu stored on the motherboard. If it doesn't bring that up, you might have something fried on your motherboard. I can't see how running your battery dead would have caused this though. If you could, would you list any other symptoms? Does the screen light up at all or do you hear the hard drive try to load? I'm sorry I can't be more direct help with fixing it, but it's information I think you might find useful. Best of luck to you, I hope you can get it fixed the cheapest way possible

Yes, If you have a desktop PC, you can remove your hard drive from your laptop and put it into an external hard drive casing. make sure you get one that can work it. Probably will need a 2.5" hard drive enclosure. Hook it up to your PC and your info should still be on there.
