Laptop monitor not viewable

I have a dv6000 laptop, it seem powers on however the screen is black. Nothing is viewable. The blue lights, when on, also flicker ever so often. I also noticed that the power adapter, when inserted in notebook, you need to hold it tight, in order for the light surrounding it to turn on, indicating that it is charging. Not having any compture knowledge, can someone give some directions. Much appreciated,

Re: laptop monitor not viewable

Like me, you are in deep trouble. There seem to be a major problem with this serie and HP is doing a recall to fix the problem. I am writing you from Brazil and here I had to SUE HP to get things done. Yet, all I got was a chance to send my laptop back to Norway where I bought it during the time I was living there. They say they will fix it and send it back to me but lots of people are saying they fix it and the problem remains. I dont wish to spend 100 dollars or so to send it to Norway for nothing so I am looking for other ways to solve the problem. You can contact me at if you wish.

Re: laptop monitor not viewable

To determine if the problem is the lcd screen, plug a regular pc monitor or flat screen into the 15 pin High-Density D-shell (VGA) port on the back panel of the laptop and power the laptop up.
But it sounds like you are having some issues with the laptop chassis. Has anyone take the laptop apart for any reason? They may not have put it back together properly.

My laptop sounds like it's running but the screen is black and the green power light and the blue wifi light is on. If I disconnect the battery it sounds light it's off but the green and blue...

If the screen is black but it's making all the right sounds that you'd normally get when the computer was working, then you can, in all likelihood, connect the NC8000 to an external monitor, do a cold start, and work off an external monitor for now. And you have also isolated the problem to be "up top" (the screen area)

If it just turns on but outputs nothing to the LCD or the external monitor, then it's probably trouble. I'd remove the memory and reseat them. If that doesn't make a difference, then you'll have isolated the problem to be "down below" (the motherboard, in all likelihood).

Hope that makes sense...

Hi ive got a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with a black screen ,i have tried a external monitor and i have checked the ram but still black screen ,the lights are on and the fan is running..please help

Just try to power cycle the unit by removing all power sources (battery, ac adapter) and pressing the power button for at least 15 seconds. If this will not work and you did not get an image from the external monitor, then you need your motherboard replaced.

Good luck.

Connect broken laptop screen to external monitor

Suggestion- on my toshiba fn-f5 switches display modes, but to remove display connectors, you may have messed up your keyboard ribbon cable connection. it probably has a small sliding lock to hold it in place- if the lock isn't tight, your keyboard may not be recognized, which could mess up your display. Also, make sure your battery is charged and/or your power supply to your laptop is connected. hope this helps!

Hp dv9000 will not start up. blue lights are go

you get a black screen right, nothing at all then no bios, no logo, nothing at all?
Do you get any beep codes and if so in what order?
did you try different ram?
First try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. If it works, you screen is bad, if it doesn't you probably need a new motherboard.
