Question about HP LaserJet 5500DN Printer

Jam errors - but no paper anywhere...

Hi, first of all thanks for being around to answer our questions. We run a small weekly community newspaper which uses the 5500dn to print some colour images on the front page. Usually a run of 1250 each week.  We have had a jam error, one in the top section, then one in tray two. I have taken out the cartridges and the replaceable ''fuzer' (for lack of a better word) unit in the top, but alas no paper to be found. I have searched for any sensors but can't see any (don't really know what I am looking for). After resarting the machine checks paper path and stops there. This is not the first ever jam, but the only time it has never cleared. Any ideas? Ready to throw it through the window. Your help would be greatly appreciated. We are pretty isolated out here in the middle of the South Pacific. Regards. Jonathan Snell Editor / Prorietor - The Norfolk Islander.

Re: Jam errors - but no paper anywhere...

Look for a green tab , situated under the toner . you;ll find a metal plate with a green lever on the right side, lift that and look under.
you will also see ( in the middle ) the registration sensor , sometime it get stuck.
also make sure you check in the back of the printer were the fuser is.

Hi, my lexmark T640 is saying 202.06 paper jam, check rear door. i have opened it and there is no jam, there is no paper anywhere and have pulled all the trays out and there is no jam. what do you suggest?

This jam is refering to back door, jam in fuser (hot bit) Double check no paper is wraped around fuser rollers.

These machines have a fuser at rear if you look at he fuser from the back, on it you will see, two thick fuser rollers (ones rubber), paper runs threw these then it hits a little black switch (your machine thinks this switch is activated) and then a series(3,4) of small rubber exit rollers, this switch (between middle and left) can get damaged it also likely that a piece of paper is concertinaed in fuser.

There is a door around the very back of the printer, if your printer is slightly encased in as mine is you can't see it. That is where the Paper jam 2 is

Hi there have you tried the door at the back of the machine as there maybe a piece stuck in the fuser unit. If not open the back door and check that there is a small black lever in the middle of the two rollers sticking up as this is the sensor arm that determines that there is a paper jam or not. If this is still there then the paper will be stuck just after the paper cassette within the paper path.

Hope this helps you.

thanks J
