Altec Lansing In Motion Power Supply

Model AMDD-20090-160A broke. How to find replacement part?

Just tonight I went to turn my speakers on, and they wouldn't power up. I put batteries in and they worked, so I know it has to do with the adapter. I have contacted Altec-Lansing through their web site, and I hope to hear good news from them. I've bought several speakers from them, so I'm hoping they throw me a bone here.

    Thanks,
    Andy

    any solutions yet?

  • submariner2 Jul 24, 2008

The speakers work with the batteries but as soon as I plug the power cord into the back of the speakers, the speakers shut down. I remove the power cord, the speakers come back on. So the problem has to be in the power supply.

Look on your power supply for the output voltage and amperage. It should say something like "Output: 9V DC 500mA". With this information you only need to get one with the same plug.
When you do please post the answer because I have the MLI699 speakers and don't know what power supply is needed.

The info on the back of the power supply is Model AMDD - 20090 - 160A
Input: 100-240V~ , 50/60Hz, 0.40A
Output: 0.0V = ,1600mA

Mine is also dead - just died tonight in the middle of playing!!!

Also for those of you who have broken prongs, did you get other country prongs? If you did, you can use those, and just buy a converter plug. You may have to go online to get the correct country.

How can my laptop charger fit to computer speaker?

Please do not modify your laptop charger to power your speakers. The laptop charger probably has too high a voltage and amperage output. (USB chargers don't provide a large enough output.) The Altec Lansing ACS40 speakers need a 15V 900 mA power transformer; the coaxial power connector has the positive voltage on the center pin. The model number on the transformer is 4815090R3CT . This is available through Amazon.com and other vendors. One vendor is http://www.emtcompany.com/altec-lansing-4815090r3cac-power-supply-charger-adapter/1010666.html .

I hope this helps.

Wrong Power Supply

If it doesn't work with batteries or the supplied power supply than your speakers are fried. Sorry for the bad news.

We need an ITE power outlet for a Altec Lansing InMotion docking station. Model:AMDD-30170-230A. Input:100-240v. Output:17.OV Any idea where we might order one?

I was able to find one on eBay for $26.99 all in. Search on IM7 power supply. I've also read in other forums that there is a fairly standard 18V, 2.0a adapter out there that works fine. The claims are that they go for around $15.99.
