Power on's for 2mins and gets off

This issue is related to a power problem as long as the TV turns on and off by itself.

The problem is consistent with overheating on the power supply board of the TV. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby making it to misbehave.

The power supply board of the TV has few capacitors and IC. If any of these IC's gets short or become weak, it can cause the TV to turn off on it's own.

When current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV. The current also goes to the weak/faulty part, then the current stops or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off on it's own.

To solve this issue, check the power supply board and read it with a meter and continuity tester, in order to detect the faulty part and replace the faulty part on the board which is short due to which power supply board

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like ""(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board from www/ to save you some stress.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't have the ability to read the fault, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

I own 3 of these. Two of them have been hooked up for over 3 years and worked perfectly until yesterday. All of a sudden, the remote wouldn't work and I couldn't turn the unit off with the power button. ...

If you are using these DVRs over the air only, with 1.2.06 installed you have to run the G* Test in the 9012 menu, to get the digital data going, after removing power. That is why your clocks are --:--. I highly recommend that you update the firmware in both of these units to 1.2.21, to avoid having to mess with the G* Test.

Fire in the power supply area so i have no circuit diagram for some value of zener and resister in th model of TC 21FX20C OF PANASONIC

If you have had, a fire in the power supply you MUST have a real serious fault, short circuit, most like, elsewhere that has caused that to happen... you MUST find that problem first otherwise it will simply happen again at switch on.

Digital Stream HD 3150 OTA HDTV tuner does not operate

Disclaimer: The answer provided is entended for you to have some basic electronic knowledge and soldering skills.

Troubleshooting switching power supplies just sucks, but there are ways of finding the fautly componets. In my case, a visual inspection found 2 bad capitors, the tops bulging open and oosing goo. If you look at the tops of any other caps they should be flat. You can also note faulty caps by discoloration of the circiut board itself. I had one other faulty cap on my supply that, by visual inspection had been running hot. After replacing the defective caps (Nichicon 105c) I went with an ohm meter, and checked the smaller transistors for faults. Q1 a very common transistor was bad (2N3906) with a base emitter short. In conclusion, it's the cheap caps that are at fault, sometimes taking the silicon with them as they short out. The unit is now working.
As an added note, I understand that there is a Radio Shack branded version of the HD3150 as well.

My SIR-S4040R no longer turns on..

If the unit doesn't power on at all, no fan spinning and no power light, then it's either your power supply, and/or motherboard. Your hard drive could be damaged as well. You can find power supplies by googling tivo power supplies.

You may be better off sending out the unit for testing/repair. I recommend CCS in Indiana. Fast, and friendly service, used them many times. You will need to lose anything that was on the unit (settings, season passes and recordings) to ensure the drive is fully functional.
