My gas dryer is not heating anymore, but it still tumbles. A pilot or ignitor light does come on for a few seconds when I start it but then it goes out. Is it supposed to stay on or is that normal and could it be something else?
if you changed the gas coils, try tapping the gas valve, sometimes this will get the dryer running and then you know the valve is bad but still change out the valve or it will happen again
Electronic ignition or traditional pilot light situation?

You may have dirt in the burner. If there is a thermocouple, it may be defective. If there is electronic ignition and it is lighting yet the flame goes out, there is a sensor that needs to see heat to keep the gas valve open. It may be dirty or out of adjustment.
It is not getting gas. Either there is no gas getting to the valve or the two solenoids ontop of the valve are faulty and need to be replaced. The fact that the ignitor glows means the thermo fuse is ok.

The dryer starts fine and runs for two minutes, then stops. The digital readout goes from 58 to 00. I have heat, the dryer just wont run a full cycle. I have tried disassembling the dryer and completely cleaning it out, with no luck

I just had a new GE Gas Super Capacity dryer installed. One hour after it was delivered I went to use it and it sounds horrible. It sounds like a furnace blower starting and then a clanking noise, then the blower sound will go away for a minute and the clanking diminishes, then it will start all over again. It does heat up nicely, when I have it on air dry I have no noise at all. Very upset they cannot come to look at it for a week. Any ideas? Could the gas line be messed up, since it works so well without the heat on.
