Hello.

This particular camera only allows SD cards up to 2gb. SDHC or otherwise cards with 4gb or up will not be recognized.

As far as your computer being unable to format it, make sure your card reader is capable of operating with 8gb cards. Sometimes older card readers require firmware upgrade from their manufacturer. Please make sure your card reader is capable of operating/formatting other 8gb cards, to discard yours as faulty.

1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

SOURCE: cant get sdhc card to format with kodak eashshare cx7430

Your camera has no support for SDHC, only SD - this in essence means you can put a maximum of 2gb card.

Good luck.

What model Kodak camera? Are you sure you have an SD card, 2GB or smaller? Many Kodak models won't work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

FORMATEAR MICRO SD HC 8GB

Depending on your laptop, 8 GB SD cards may not work. That said, insert the SD card, open Computer, right click on the SD Card icon, format.

Formatting sd card 8gb for kodak cx7430

The CX7430 uses SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work with this camera. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Format sdhc card for Kodak EasyShare CX7430

According to the specs on the Kodak web site, the CX7430 uses SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, there are hardware differences that keep them from working. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

8GB sd mem card will not format. what is the max size of SD card that can be used in a Kodax Easyshare Z760?

The Z760 uses SD cards, which max out at 2GB. Larger cards are actually SDHC cards (the HC stands for High Capacity). While SDHC cards will fit into SD slots, they will not work.

Why can't you use 8GB memory card in Z710

I have a kodak z710 camera with a 2 gig card in it. I was wanting to get a 4 gig sdhc and i wasn't sure if the HC would work with this camera. HC stands for high capacity which means it allows the camera to load files on to the card faster. this may be the problem the kodak may not be HC compatable. but as i have said i have a 2 gig and it works fine with that. and i have a friend that has a 4 gig in thiers but once again i don't think it is HC so i would exchange the card if you can for just a regular SD/MMC card or SD card

Kodak camera cx7430

The maximum card supported by this camera is 2gb, any higher volume SD cards will not work. Also it could your card is not genuine or sometimes incompatible, without necessarily being 'broken'
