Maytag quiet 300 Dishes do not get clean. Tried gel and powder deg. Use rinse agent. Temp. at sink is just over 120 degrees. Dishes appear to get cleaned, but then particles are shot back up and coat everything, especially upper rack items.

Make sure that you evenly space your dishes so all of them have space. at the end of the cycle do you see steam? if yes your heater is good and you are recurculating proper. the only thing it could be is that you are overloading it

Sounds like it may just need a good cleannig. The bottom arm is easily removable. Take it off and remove the screen and see if there's any gunk that has accumulated in there. Also make sure the drain hose is positioned in a way that it will create a water trap to keep drainage from re-entering the dishwasher after the drain cycle ends.

Keep getting a white film on all my dishes, not cleaning properly.

Check the temperature of the water. Should be 120 deg. Also are you using powder or liquid? Liquid dissolved a lot quicker that powder. So liquid is actually better to use. Try running the hot water at the sink until it gets hot before running the dishwasher. Also you may want to try mixing half cascade liquid and half lemon shine.
tip

Dishwasher Water Temperatures

No matter what detergent you use, the "pills", powder, or gels, they are meant to activate PROPERLY, key word PROPERLY, at a minimum of 120 degrees Fahrenheit in a dishwasher. I recommend ALWAYS using the "high temp wash, boost, etc" on ANY cycle in order to keep the water HOT! Always run the hot water in the sink prior to starting the dishwasher! The unit is tied in to the hot water line under the kitchen sink and requires very little water to fill--by the time the hot water finally reaches the dishwasher, chances are it'll be running on cold or tepid water--the detergent won't dissolve or activate the way it's supposed to. Not only that, in between fills during the cycle, especially in winter, the water will cool down in the pipes too much. Normally, the water heating selection will maintain water temps in the 130-150 degree range! If someone has been sick in the house, turn on the SANI RINSE if your unit has it! This won't stop--but it'll help prevent cross contamination--people getting sick from the dishes--this setting normally kicks the water temp up to 190 degrees during the rinse cycle.

Maytag quiet series 100 leaves residue and granules all over

are you using powder detergent or liquid. you may just need to switch the type of detergent you use. liquid in my opinion is better. also you may want to check the temperature of your hot water. ideal temp for proper washin is 120 degrees F. also if you run the hot water at the sink first before running the dishwasher, that will help you.

White film left on the dishes after going through the dishwasher. Why?

Too much rinse agent. If you are using powder or gel, set pointer knob on rinse agent dispenser to a lower setting. If you were using the tablets, they have rinse agent built into them, and the additional rinse agent from the dispenser equals a double dose, so the film shows up. Stop using tablets until liquid rinse agent dispenser is empty.

The dishes do not rinse properly--despite rinse

run some calcium lime and scale remover throught the unit on an empty wash cycle just to get rid of any build up that may be there.
turn the rinse aid down to about half way.
also check the phosphours content of you washing agent.
there is a lot of factor involved with leaving film on the dishes, it could also be residual soap content that is sticking to your dishes.
reduce the amount of soap a little.does not matter if it is liquid or powder.
once every three months you need to run cleaner through the machine.
last thing but very important make sure the incoming water temp i no lowe rthan 120 degrees.

Fine gritty residue on dishes, particularly on glasses

alm84, Are you using a brand name powder like Electrosol or Cascade? Try that first. Seriously, it makes a difference.
When you say your water temp is within the recommended temp for the detergent manufacturer, do you mean the water heater temp at the sink tap is 120 degrees? MOST problems with cleaning that are not caused by generic detergent or plugged filter/debris in the impeller area are caused by a failed heating element. No kidding, it makes a BIG difference and once it is repaired, you will see an immediate difference.
glenda, First try this: remove the lower spray arm and the filter and assembly. Clean everything in the sink and with a flashlight, inspect everywhere for "chunks" that is probably causing the noise.
Reassemble and test. If dishes still do not get clean, check the heating element, replace if needed.
If that does not fix the problem, you will need to replace the main wash motor/impeller.
Good Luck!
Please update me with what you both find. OK?

My dishes are coming out with a thick cloudy film

Most dishwasher detergents now have some sort of rinse agent already in them. If this is the case don't add it to your dispenser once it runs out. Too much rinse agent can cause clouding.
