Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I have a very weird problem with my Dell Inspiron 8600. The sound works off and on. I can't figure out exactly how to make it work consistantly. Different things make it work. I had thought it was related to how long the computer was on but that doesn't seem to be the case. I tried turning off other devices and it didn't help. I just don't know what else to try. I have tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I have also had this system looked at by several other people and they haven't been able to figure it out either. no sound at all all drivers upto date bios ok default audio enabled to sigmatel c major everything configured to work but still no sound
A good registry scanner can clean up a lot of problems with your computer. Here's a link to a good free one:
I've used this one and it sped up my computer by quite a bit. Hopefully this helps.

If after reinstalling the operating system and the sound drivers you get the same problem then your sound chip is faulty,
dont know if there is a pcmci sound card but if there is, that would be your solution or else consider swapping the board

The Sigmatel C major driver is the sound driver for your laptop. Hopefully windows 7 can search for a better driver, while you are online.
