Well my cd drive no longer works at all, when i load a cd or dvd
in the drive works spins the cd and reads it but nothing happens on my computer
i dont even have an E: drive icon. I looked in device manger and it
shows it with a yellow exclimation point over it. I've looked everywhere
for the driver.

You probably already have the right driver installed. It sounds as though you have an electronic fault. In general these are not worth repairing. I suggest you buy a new one. Try Ebay

CD/DVD Drive Missing In My Computer
1. Go to Control Panel > System > "Click Hardware Tab" > Device Manager > IDE ATA / ATAPI Controllers > Right Click then uninstall
2. Reboot
3. If the problem is still their you will need to remove the upper and lower registry keys. You can do this by following this Microsoft Knowledge base article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

- If you look in the device manager again at is says error code 39 or 41 it is not hardware. Follow my instructions above and you will have a working cd-rom/dvd drive again. Also try the tool from that microsoft link if the tool located under Fix it for me does not work you will have to fix it yourself and follow the instructions for whichever Operating system you have. If you buy another drive you will just have the same problem. 99.9 % the upper and lower filters in the registry need to be delete and your pc rebooted.Yes
