Hi, the print heads are clogged up usually caused by leaving a ink cartridge in the printer when not using it, ie over time, but epson have this problem alot.
you could try this http://www.supermediastore.com/cleaning-cartridge.html
ie if head cleaning dont work,,

this should fix it, otherwise its $48 + vat was the cheapest i found for new print heads or £75 for epson to fix it.
i would replace printer ie if cartridge dont work,,

Happy New Year

John

Check ink cartridge on right

Yes - if they are not used they will dry up and be unusable.
Unfortunate but you need to replace them.
For future ref - IF they will not be used in 4 - 6 months
pop them out and put scotch tape on the head where ink comes out
and that should keep them good for several months..
I have done that and close to a year later - was fine.
Hope this helps :)

Can the ink dry up. installed printer ink a couple of months ago but will not print now. printer prints blank pages.

hi!

yes ink can dry up.. big chance your ink have dried up, since you've installed them couple of months ago.. there's a possibility that the ink may have not dried up but the print head may clogged.. you can try running some maintenance like clean cartridge or print head test using Dell All inOne Solution center..
Hope this helps..

What is the best way to clean the contacts on the cartridge? And also, does it effect the printer if it has been sitting for a couple of months without a blk cartridge? What may I do to correct it? Thanks

I use an alcohol solution and lint-free cloth to soak the inkjets and get all the dried ink off them. Just as important, are making sure the gold-plated contacts are clean on both the printer and the cartridge. It shouldn't hurt your printer to leave cartridges out, actually, that's probably better than leaving them in, and trying to let the self clean system try to clean them after they've dried. Unfortunately, the high techies report that ink cartridges are not designed to last long, so, unfortunately, no matter what you do, they may still not work correctly after a period of time. Hope this helps.

HOW YOU CLEAN THE PRINTHEAD

some printer head pack in ink cartridge and for cleaning on that is to wipe out existing ink in the head with cotton. other design with separate printer ink cartridge from printer head and can't be remove unless you need to replace, for precaution don't leave unused printing for long time or ink may dry inside resulting for head error and cant detect ink label.

Printer goes thru the motions but does not print.have not used in a while. the ink cartridges look clean and the chart shows plenty of ink when i print the allignment page(it's blank twice) the display...

If the printer has been unused for a considerable time the cartridges may have become blocked with dried ink.

Remove the cartridge(s). Take a slightly dampened cotton bud or piece of kitchen paper and carefully wipe the copper coloured surface on the cartridge(s). Then wipe with a dry piece of kitchen paper.

Re-insert the cartridge(s) and perform the print head cleaning function in your printer control panel.

Now try printing.

How can you clean the printer but clicking on

Hi
If yourPSC 1210v printer has been left unused for some time? You probably have an ink clog and the standard cleaning is not enough to clear the clogged ink.

Assuming your HP 56 57 still has ink? Empty they are about 30g Each 1g over that is 1ml of unused ink.

Provided it worked OK before a period of non-use? Then you just need to use a PRINT HEAD CLEANING KIT to unclog the tiny jets.
Magic Inkjet Flush usually works a treat on those!

Magic is ideal for unclogging the tiny jets on any Canon,Epson HP and removing those horrible white lines which usually appear in prints when dried ink clogs several jets...

So if yours appears to be a clog? all you should need to do is to use a littleMagic Inkjet Flush to soak the print head and you should be printing again like new.

Carriage cycles normally but no ink on paper.(Stylus color 880)

Turn off printer. Open Case. Move head carriage to parking position. Do suction from outlet pipe of head cleaning mechanic. It's for checking head. is there ink out? If printer not used for long time, may be ink inside head dried. Utility screen just show estimated not actually. If head clog, and do head cleaning more 5 times, screen show ink nearly out, but actually ink tank nearly full.

Epson 440 won't print

The ink dried up in the print head. A printer should be used at least every two weeks to keep from drying up the ink. You may have to replace the print head or have it serviced.
This is not much help. Bud
