Does not dry clothes

I own a 12+ year old Whirlpool Ultimate Care Heavy Duty super Capacity Plus Gas dryer. A couple of years ago it only got the clothes warm!! But did not dry. A really great repairman who was trained on the machine fixed it right up. He said it was the solenoid. I don't remember. Some one else is telling me it might be the coils.

Please advise. Just let me know if it is something I could fix myself, and what it would be the proximate costs.

thanks
John

If its not heating up correctly you could have a bad thermostat, blocked up vent or dirty lint screen, or possible the coils that go near the ignitor need replacing.

My whirlpool ultimate Care II Heavy Duty Super Capacity Plus washer Very slightly agitates and don't spin dry

The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

My dryer is a ultimate care heavy duty super capacity runs fine but it wont heat up so it don't dry. Does it have a pilot or something i need to replace?

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Dryer not drying clothes.

examine all the ducts in the dryer, and the fan and fan housing for lint. Lint buildup stops the air exiting the dryer
cant get out
cant get in
no air
no dry
surprising how much lint you can get out of a dryer

UNPLUG
71fdf37.jpg8010907.jpg after clearing all the lint,
examine devices::
thermal fuses, thermostats and the heater element for conductivity.
remove 1 wire from each to isolate from the circuit, test with ohmmeter or battery and bulb, replace wire
when cold all devices in the heater circuit should conduct

when cold a small device in the motor circuit that looks the same as all the other devices, a cool down thermostat does NOT conduct
