Rudder doesn't remain centred

The rudder keeps moving away from centre even after re-calibration, unplugging the joystick, using the clear calibration whatsit. Can anybody help??!!

I have the same problem except with the left and right joystick, the right turn becomes less sensitive and loses calbration.

Rudder does not remain centered. Have unplugged-plugged USB port. Have used Calibration Utility. Problem remains.
Could it be simply the device is worn out? Mine is a couple years in use, almost daily for 1 1/2 hrs.

My extreme 3D PRO Hangs to the right. Sometimes it corrects when I plug and un-plug the USB. But not now.

The joy stick in the center has grase, when the grease dries up due to wear and tear, then the axis of the joystcik , does not move freely. open the bottom of the joy stick, using screw driver, then clean up the center, and regrease it

Meanwhile the solution is EASY.
I had the same problem after a year or so. Trying to steer to the right, no response. Couldn't get worse, so i had to buy a new one, that gave me the possibility to experiment. This is what i did, and it worked. Turn the stick up side down, remove the bottom plate, only that. Put it on your desk and lift the grey plate up. There you see the x and y axis roll-contacts (excuse my tech-english). These are the little black rectangular contacts, you can recognise them by the multicolor wiring atttached. Theres 2 of them, one for pushing forward/back, and one for pushing left/right. Now be carefull, and spray a LITTLE contact spray on the middle of this roll-contact. It will lubricate the contact, which has dried up during use/time. For me it worked like a charm, as NEW! Do NOT unscrew the stick itself, otherwise you have to puzzle a lot to assemble it again (believe me, you don't need it and don't like it). Screw the bottom plate back and enjoy the flight again for months.

The only solution is to by another jostick, thats what you get for 30 dollers, there are much better logitech products on the website that are qualty and last for a good deal of time. I have a new one i just got in the mail today ^_^. Tested it out, it works fine, but a friend of mine had the same joystick for about 11 mounths and it started to become erratic, after recalibration, reinatalation, everything, he sent it back to logitech and they said that a part had worn out and for some reason they couldnt replace for god knows why, they assemble it, so the warrenty was still good so he go a full refund and used that money towards another better quality joystick from logitech. This joystick i intend to replace eventualy after i get a job. Anyway just to tell you the truth, the only thing to do is to get a refund (if your warenty is still good, it last about a year) or toss it in the trash and buy a new one.

Don't waste you time on your comp. ....... it's the joystick! i'll tell you why. I too have the Log.extreme 3d pro. and after about 4 years of use, i ended up with the same problem. So one day i got fed up with this and investigated..... easy enough, i used another joystick and pluged it in,in mid flight with msfs 2004.and guess what i found! No problem! So..... i dissassembled the joystick and inspected the components, including doing a Ohm test on all the potentiometers. This found that the component that controls the bank left was shorting out badly, and was well worn as the shaft of the component was wably. Why just the right hand side though are you asking? Probably cause your right handed like me! always a little pressure to the right side component. Anyways, i've sent an email to Logitech about the problem and asked for a quote on a price for 4 new ones (never know when another one goes!) Bout has only been 2 days and still waiting, i'll give them a week. But it might be in there best interest to respond, the internet is a powerfull tool when it comes to bad business. But thats my point of view. So if your up to the task, borrow another joystick from a friend or neibour and give it a try! I think you'll be surprised as i was. I will be in touch here again in a week to let you know my findings from Logitech. Good Luck! JLS

Hi folks! Just to let you know about the problem i found with the joystick from logitech. First of all after sending 3 emails ( 2 of which was for just to try and get them to return my first email ), i caved in and called them (long distance) to find out WTF? After spendind 15 minutes on the phone with some guy, he tells me that they dont supply those components anymore. But I reminded him that they still sold that product in the stores? Didn't matter it seemed to him,,,,, they dont supply those components. "Can you tell me where you got those components, so i could get in touch with thier supplier?" Nope! Then he tells me i could get those potentiometers from any electronic component store, YEA RIGHT! For any of you techy's out there, you probably heard of DIGIKEY, best place for electronic components! I sent them a email with a attached photo of the potentio to them, and even they were stumped! They could only explain that this component was supplied to Logitech as by logitech's engineering,,,,,,,, meaning that only logitech has that component. But Logitech in there GREAT customer service care program, did offer me £30.00 voucher for another product of thiers,,,, i told them to stuff it! I will never buy one of thier products again! It's up to you people now,buy now/pay later? Or buy from someone else that might have better customer support. Your discision. Best of luck.. JLS P.S. if you still need some potentiometers, i have a few good used ones! LOL

The first comment by erik33 is great. I opened the case , I even did not have contact spray. I said what the heck, I have olive oil , and before I throw the Logitech away let me try olive oil. So I saturated a cotton swab with olive oil and rubbed against the central plastic axix and the spring around the plastic axix. and moved the stick several times in different directions, so the oil works its way well with the spring and the middle plastic axix. I can not believe. The problem fixed ,and the Logitech Joy stick now is working like a charm. Do not waste your money by throwing your joy stick away.

No solution ! I eventually just gave up and bought a new joystick - problem solved. Expensive, but worthwhile. not a good reflection on logitech, though.

Loaded XPlane 10 on new iMac and rudder pedals no longer function?

My iMac has a CD/DVD drive, but I posted a X-Plane 10 pendrive to avoid inserting DVD #1 every session. It functions perfectly. Another point is to connect all peripherals (stick and pedals etc.) BEFORE launching X-Plane 10. Then calibrate your peripherals within XP 10.
I have no pedals set, but instead a pitch-stick with grip throttle and a Logitech joystick with twist grip to fly helicopters.

I would first of recommend doing a calibration of your joystick. To do that, make sure your joystick is connected to your computer and go to your start menu>>devices and printers. Once your window pops up, find your joystick and right click on the icon, and go to settings. You can find the calibration wizard there. Once that is done, open up your Flight Simulator X, and go to the settings tab. Along the right hand side, click on controls. From there you can configure your joystick buttons to whichever action you like. Please keep in mind as well when your are adjusting the elevator trim, rudder trim, that the adjustments made from one keystroke, or button push, are very very small adjustments. You can change that by moving the slider on the Repeat column, thereby making one keystroke or button push equal to multiple taps!

There should be a calibration tool to configure the joystick.
You move the cursor to each of the corner and click the fire button and possibly the center position as well.

The linear drive should have an adjustment screw on the arm so that it can be adjusted to show when the rudders are central. you will need to centre upm the rudders then loosen the screw and adjust until the guage shows the centre position. May take some fiddling to get right cause sometimes when you centre it the guage won't read correctly in the port or starbord directions (won't go all the way over). May need to re-position the whole unit.

AP35 Autopilot

Yep, if rudder calibration values are OK, then there is a real problem with calibration, it can be a mechanical problem or a faulty rudder feedback unit. Follow procedure at page 93 of user manual :
AP35 Autopilot Instruction Manualto troubleshoot the error, if you cannot get rid of the error message you may have to replace the rudder feedback unit or to have the unit inspected by a technician.

Your joystick's drivers may not be installed or installed correctly. I reccommend you go to your joystick manufacturer's website and try to find drivers for your joystick.

The flight simulator (I'm guessing that's what it is) may also not be configured correctly to use a joystick. Check in the game options to make sure that you do have joystick support enabled.

Rudder control

Your in luck I happen to be a Flight simmer also. You need to go into your main menu under settings in Flight sim 2002. You will see enable joystick then you will see cordinated flight or uncordinated flight. You want to select uncordinated flight. Meaning that you will have full control of rudder and the sim will no longer make coordinated turns for you. You will have to add rudder to prevent a skid.
