Question about Samsung D840 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Will not hold charge longer than 1 day

I and my business partner have had these phones for less than 1 month and have returned them 3 times for repair to cure the short charge life of the battery. Vodaphone -no help at all- has replaced some discreet components -fuses and filters- but the problem still persists.

Try going with an extended life battery. My blackjack does the same thing I have a second battery I charge. Or you can just purchase an extended life battery.

Battery won't hold charge

It could be a problem with your charger cable, or the charging port where you plug in said cable.

Battery lufe is rubbish

How old is the phone/battery?

Most cells use LiPo batteries, which can be very tempermental. If they are fully discharged (used until they will not power item any longer) more than a few times, they can lose the ability to hold a charge. Also, check the phone's users manual for correct battery charge times, as many Li/Po batteries will show a full charge before they are actually fully charged, particularly for the first few charges. If your battery isn't holding a charge, the easy fix is to replace it, but if the phone/battery is less than 6-12 months old, I'd ask my cell provider to replace it as defective.

Hope this helps,

Hi ive got a samsung galaxy s2 and the battery life is really bad. I will charge the phone fully over night and ut wont even last half a day. Is this a commen problem or do u have a dodgy battery

How old is the phone/battery?

Has the battery been fully discharged (used until it will not power up the item) very many times?
This is very bad for Li/Po batteries. If the phone is less than 6-12 months old, I would contact my cell provider and ask for a replacement battery. In lieu of your provider replacing it, your only option will likely be to replace it yourself. Unlike the old-school Ni/Cad rechargeable batteries, Li/Po batteries lose their ability to hold a charge if they are drained fully too many times. Also a good tip with a new battery is to charge it longer than just until the battery power indicator is full (overnight is a good basic rule, but check your phone's user guide or google the specific battery model for recommended charge times) for the first few charges, and avoid letting it fully discharge. Try to get it on a charger with at least 1 or 2 bars left. This will increase the life of a cell phone battery dramatically.

hope this helps,

The battery is faulty or needs replacing. All rechargable batteries lose their efficiency over time meaning that they hold charge for less time. It sounds like your battery is either at the end of it's life or has a fault. If the phone is less than 12 months old, it's worth contacting the seller or manufacturer to ask for a replacement

Motorla Slvr L7 Won't hold charge

It depends on how much talking your doing. The Slvr is known for its low talk-time battery power. My slvr would last about 3 to 4 days on a charge, unless i was talking on it a lot. sometimes i would be charging it every other day. So it really all depends on the talk-time. Invest in a car charger for sure.

Here's a suggested fix. It worked on my K1m. Maybe it will work on yours.
First off, get the latest version of Motorola Software Update.
Then, put the phone in bootloader mode by pressing and holding the * and # buttons while the phone is off and then turn it on while you remain holding the * and # buttons. If the bootloader starts, you'll see a motorola logo on a blue background.
Once you have that screen, plug the phone into your PC with the usb cable, open and run Motorola Software Update.
It should run through the update process and fix the problem.
Good luck!
