Problem for Zenith R60V26 60 in. Rear Projection Television

Is there no way to fix it?

I do hope you can help. My husband inherited a 60in Zenith TV from his grandparents several years ago. The manufacture date was July, 2002. The television is a Zenith model number R60v26. Well early September of this year (2007) we turned the TV on one day and everything on the TV has a double in green. I have tried to adjust the convergence but the green does not adjust. The Blue and red I can move but it does not even give me the option to move the Green. We had a Television repair man come out to fix the TV, well he took all the info with him to get the replacement part. Well yesterday he gave us all our information back and said that the replacement part is no longer made and that it cannot be fixed. I have also contacted Zenith, which says the convergence amplifier processor (Which is what needs to be replaced) is discontinued. I have tried to find more information regarding this but I cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

- The problem is finding the convergence IC. It is dicontinued.

- I did get a second opinion from Zenith. She said the convergence amplifier processor is discontinued.

- I will have to open the TV and have a look. I appreciate your help and I will get that asap. Will I get shocked looking for the STK number? (I will of course unplug the TV)

PS - Zenith has after much arguement told me to throw the TV away. Ugh.

- I found the part number STK392-110. I also found a site online to purchase the part. The only thing I am not sure about now is do I need to purchase 2? Or do they come in a pair? Thank you so much for all your help with this matter.

- Problem solved ctf1800 thank you so much for your advise. We now have our TV working like good as new again.

- can you tell me what the number on the ic is and ill find you a replacement. it will start with STK

- it's not likely you get a shock if you have it unpluged, one thing i was all ways told was to keep one hand out of the set!

the fact that the blue and red moves tells me it not a hopleless case.. the processor may not be available but the amplifier may however be. i would have to examine set to know more. usally the customer is not allowed to alter green. this is a factory setup. Convergence setup mode may allow you to adjust the other colors to green. Id get a second opinon. this set may...not promising..may be salvaglble. Willie@fordtv.com

OK I found the part number STK392-110. I also found a spot to purchase it online. The only thing I am a bit confused about now is do I need to buy 2? Or do they automatically come in a set? Thank you so much for all your help with this.
