Question about Zenith R60V26 60" Rear Projection Television

3 Answers

Is there no way to fix it?

I do hope you can help. My husband inherited a 60in Zenith TV from his grandparents several years ago. The manufacture date was July, 2002. The television is a Zenith model number R60v26. Well early September of this year (2007) we turned the TV on one day and everything on the TV has a double in green. I have tried to adjust the convergence but the green does not adjust. The Blue and red I can move but it does not even give me the option to move the Green. We had a Television repair man come out to fix the TV, well he took all the info with him to get the replacement part. Well yesterday he gave us all our information back and said that the replacement part is no longer made and that it cannot be fixed. I have also contacted Zenith, which says the convergence amplifier processor (Which is what needs to be replaced) is discontinued. I have tried to find more information regarding this but I cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

I will have to open the TV and have a look. I appreciate your help and I will get that asap. Will I get shocked looking for the STK number? (I will of course unplug the TV)

PS - Zenith has after much arguement told me to throw the TV away. Ugh.

I found the part number STK392-110. I also found a site online to purchase the part. The only thing I am not sure about now is do I need to purchase 2? Or do they come in a pair? Thank you so much for all your help with this matter.

OK I found the part number STK392-110. I also found a spot to purchase it online. The only thing I am a bit confused about now is do I need to buy 2? Or do they automatically come in a set? Thank you so much for all your help with this.

The fact that the blue and red moves tells me it not a hopleless case.. the processor may not be available but the amplifier may however be. i would have to examine set to know more. usally the customer is not allowed to alter green. this is a factory setup. Convergence setup mode may allow you to adjust the other colors to green. Id get a second opinon. this set may...not promising..may be salvaglble. Willie@fordtv.com

it's not likely you get a shock if you have it unpluged, one thing i was all ways told was to keep one hand out of the set!

What or where is the sound card? We inherited

There is no separate sound card unless it is a commercial monitor. If it's just an old TV then the sound section is composed of many parts on the main circuit board. If the TV is older than 10 years it probably isn't worth the money to fix it.

Need customer service number for ilo

First of all you dont need to send the TV, the manufacturer have to pay to send a tech over your place and fix it at your entire satisfaction or replace it.

The number is 1-800-428-1105

You will need your receipt at hand when making the call.

Z50PX2D 50 in. HDTV... Problem

You have a problem with the STK convergence modules. They're on the center circuit board attached to an aluminum heat sink that's about 8" long and 6" tall. You may be able to recreate the problem (hour glass effect) by gently moving the heat sink (which the modules are connected to). This gives the hour glass effect on the picture and the advanced convergence screen. This is an indication that the modules pins aren't solidly connected (meaning soldered) properly. Remove the circuit board and clean the old solder off & resolder the modules pins to the circuit board reconnected the board and then retest by again pushing on the heat sink. The "factory" job was good enough for 3-4 years but the heat (and these modules do create a lot of heat) and stress created from repeated use eventually takes it's toll, weakens the pin connections and our problem occurs. take the appropriate cautions working around the high voltage of the set.
If soldering doesn't help, then the modules have died and need replacing. Don't buy the $10 cheap ones. Most of them have an upgraded version that is stronger. Also look for any burned resistors in the vicinity of the modules.
Best of luck, hope ya fix it.
