TURNS ITSELF OF AND THEN BACK ON AFTER ABOUT 45... (by 9 users)
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY SONY KDF-E50A10 TURNING IT SELF OFF AND THEN BACK ON AFTER APPROX. 45 FLASHS OF THE STANDBY LIGHT,IT DOES THIS RANDOMLY.I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RESET IT BY UINPLUGING IT FROM THE WALL FOR 5 MIN. AND THIS DID NOTHING...PURCHASED THE SET IN 12/05 SO IT IS ALREADY OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE SONY WEB SITE SAYS THAT MINE IS NOT ONE FOR THE SOFTWARE UPDATE...CAN YOU HELP !!!!!THANKS!!!!!

I try to turn my tv on and it doesn't come on. It just cycles the green power light then to red then it shuts off. The Tv was manufactured in December of 2005.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same tv. My tv was about 18 months old, but on all of the time. I had a tech scheduled to look at and stumbled on a website with a bunch of tv repair men answering questions. they suggested my lamp was on its last leg. I replaced the lamp and have not had a problem since with the tv turning on and off by itself. Unfortunately, I now have a large blue blob taking over my screen and sony is acting like they never heard of the problem before. Sony blows!

TV won't go on. Just see a black screen. The green power light will blink for a minute or two and then turn to red and continue blinking. Tried unplugging for 5 minutes to reset without success.

Our tv also does this. It also has a blue streak in the upper right hand corner. We bought it May 24, 2006. We purchased an extended warranty so I wonder if it will cover this problem.

I have the same problem - mine doesn't need the update either. Just started today. I went through the live chat support and after I reset it from the wall I was told to call service.
Purchased January '06.

I have the exact problem. Turns itself off and then back on again after 45 flashes of the standby light.

Same problem here. Turns itself off then on, over and over again. So far I've found no cause or resolution. I'm about to pitch this piece of junk out in the street.

App 3 days ago I started having the same problem. Exactly 45 flashes as you say. My TV was needing the upgrade. I had that done but the problem still exists.
