Put jump drive into desktop like as I usually do and not it is not recognized. I go the the removable disk section in ''My Computer'' screen and it does not come up as ''verbatim store and go usb device''. Is there any way to recove what I had on the drive?
Unfortunately when a computer no longer recognizes a pen/flash drive , it normally means that it is gone , taking any information with it.
One common problem which you could relatively easily diagnose and repair is the following.
On the side on the pen drive there should be little clips that keep the cover on.
Pry something in these clips to open them up carefully to reveal the flash drive inside.
Check where the 4 wires come from the USB port into the circuit board. Very often the only problem is that the soldering has become loose and disconnected from the board.
Simple solder (or get someone that solders well) the wire back into position and it should be working as good as new.
Replace the outer plastic cover and superglue any clips that may have broken.
When i did this the first time I ruined the outer plastic shell and something really cool you can do then is to get some non-conducting clear epoxy resin and mold your flash inside this resin. Looks really great and works like a charm.
Other than that , there isn't much you can do to fix your drive unfortunately. Take your drive to a data recovery expert if the information is really important but be warned that these services are really expensive.
Good luck and feel free to contact me should you need furthur assistance of information. Regards Stephan
There are two major possibilities: 1: There is hardware or software problem with your computer's USB ports. To test this, plug the drive into a different computer if you can, and try having it plugged into your current one while you turn the computer on.
2: The issue is with the Jump Drive itself. If the drive fails to show up when plugged into a different computer this is the likely problem. The data CAN be recovered, but if it won't show up on any computer, the only real way to do so would be to pay a Hard Drive recovery shop.
