Toshiba Satellite L10 that will not acknowledge a usb mouse or keyboard

Hi my notebook has decided to ignore any mouse or keyboard i plug into its USB ports, my printer works in all of the usb ports but i can't get the keyboard to light up in any of them. I realise i must have done something somewhere but am unsure of where and when.

just so we can be sure the problem is not from the mouse and keyboards, try another mouse and keyboard and then try your mouse and keyboard on another computer. if the first fails and the second works then we know it is from your usb ports.... then get back to me

(or uninstall the usb controller drivers and reinstall them - on condition that the above apply)

Took aprt to clean because its been overheating, figured out the keyboard but now my mouse isnt working, suggestions??

I'm assuming you're using an external USB mouse, either wired or wireless (correct me if I'm wrong). Does the mouse work if you plug it into another USB port on the computer (or on another computer)? If so, it's probably that particular port that's bad, otherwise it's either the mouse or, if it's a wireless mouse, the USB receiver.

Keyboard just quit working

Its most likely just a bad keyboard unless something got spilled on the laptop. I would call Toshiba customer support and have a toshiba repair shop look at it. 1-800-457-7777

USB Malfunction Toshiba Satellite A45 S120

Yeah it could be a virus or mother board might need to be replaced because your usb ports are integrated with the motherboard. First try to put a keyboard or mouse on the usb port just to test its functionality,if mouse or keyboard works, that means it could be your usb/windows registries might have been might need to install windows,if mouse or kbd didnt work,it could be the motherboard/usb ports

Memory stick use

plug the memory stick into a USB port.
wait for your system to recognize the hardware ( an autoplay screen should open)
select open to view files.

drag and drop what you want to save in the mem stick. that's it. pretty straight forward. ^_^
