Graphics great, text looks rubbish

Hello there i hope you can help, i have a new acer al1716 17" lcd screen, graphics look great on it but writing looks awful, when i'm on line or using word the writing is not fully formed is the only way i can put it, it is in focus and i've tried adjusting the horizontal and vertical settings which seems to move the lettering to no effect. it just looks wrong, not sharp, i's and l's are thinner than the other letters. any advice?

    What does that mean?

Thanks for that it worked but text is too small to read properly so am going to investigate further.

LCD monitors have something called "Native Resolution". This is the actual number of pixels that are on the screen. If you run any resolution other than the native resolution they always look "fuzzy" to me.

The native resolution for this monitor is 1280x1024. Right click somewhere on the desktop of your computer and select Properties. Now select the "Setup" tab. You should find a slider labled "Screen Resolution" Slide it until it's set at 1280x1024. Then hit OK. All this assumes you're using a Windows machine.

Hopefully this will help. The downside is everything on your screen may appear much smaller.

Good luck.

I'm glad it helped. In my opinion this is the only way the text will look sharp. You might consider leaving the resolution set this way and then use the various applications to make things look bigger. For instance, you can change the text size in Internet Explorer by clicking on "View" then "Text Size". In Word and Excel you can use the Zoom feature to enlarge the entire document. This is what I do.

    Best of luck.

I have never had this problem, but what I am thinking it could be is all of the primary colors that are used have gone out besides the red color. It might not be in the graphics card but something in the screen that has gone wrong, you might need to go into the computer and reset some like the color balance. That is a very weird problem, sorry for your trouble, I hope I helped in some way.

The left side of my laptop screen wet all white with red green yellow blue lines running veretical lines running through it. looks like someone spilled paint on it

Vertical lines are usually caused by 2 things, either your graphics card is going bad or your screen is going bad. How you check if it is your graphics card is by plugging it into an external monitor (if you have one).
If the lines still appear on the external monitor then you know its the graphics card going bad, which isn't probably worth fixing these days if you take into account how must laptop pricing has dropped.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck!!

My acer 5735 lcd screen has turned red its not the lcd flex cable.everything else is working fine?

It can only be a few things, you checked the cable, I assume you've installed the latest drivers. It's either the LCD itself, your graphics card itself, or my personal guess the inverter card (hope for this because it can be replaced). I'd suggest looking up about your models video inverter card and see if anyone else has had this problem. If not I'm guessing your LCD or graphics card are failing at the hardware level. Hope this helps out and thank you.

What do i do to stop the cursor flickering on my acer aspire 3683wxmi

Check graphic properties and set the refresh frequency to the highest one that can be handled by the LCD screen. At least make sure it is higher than 50 Hertz (Hz).
Hope it helps.

Acer aspire one second display monitor blue

Look onto your keyboard. There is a key that looks like 2 oval one shaded the other clear. Press FN and that key with the symbol on it. It will turn off your LCD and put it into the other. Then hit it again, both screens will have power, but slightly dim, press it once more to turn it off.
Good Luck
