It's ok to change the setting. It's the default for IE8 - so go for it!

Ghange yahoo languag to english please

Your country/language setting - what Yahoo! Mail calls your "Preferred Content" - can be adjusted by following these steps:

Click on your user name which is located at the top of your Yahoo! Mail page, next to the Yahoo! Mail logo. This will open a pull-down menu. Click Edit My Account.

This will open a new window in which you will be prompted to re-enter your password. You will then be re-directed to your Yahoo! ID Card.

Under "Member Information" in your Yahoo! ID Card, click the Edit link. This will take you to "Member Details."

Click on the link next to Preferred Content and from there you can select from a list that best meets your content needs.

Click Finished.

Are you seeing garbled characters in a non-US-language email? If so, you can change Yahoo! Mail's character encoding setting. It's easy! Here's how:

In the toolbar, click More Actions and select Set Encodings.

From the list that appears, select the encoding that matches the message's content.

Note: Only one character encoding set may be viewed at a time. And in this case, changing your browser's encoding setting will not work.

My yahoomail wont open

Most of the time, the internet browser is the problem when a page won't load up. If you're accessing your Yahoo! Mail everyday, there will come a time that your browser will be filled out with cookies and cache.

However, you must try to isolate first, to make sure that the problem is the browser and not the Yahoo! Mail sign in page. Here are the things that you may try:

1. Try to use different internet browser and access your Yahoo! Mail. If the sign in page loads up, then it's the browser.

2. Try to access the Yahoo! Mail in a different computer that is connected to a different network.

If the problem is only happening in one browser, then it's the browser. You may try to clear the cookies and cache. Here's how:

* For Internet Explorer
- Open your IE > Tools > Internet Options
- Click the "Delete" button under the browsing history.
- Select cookies, internet files, etc.
- Select "Delete All".
- Close and re-open your IE.
- Try to access your Yahoo! Mail.

* For Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox > Tools > Clear Recent History.
- Select cookies, cache, browsing and download, etc.
- Click on "Clear Now"
- Close and re-open your Firefox
- Try to access your Yahoo! Mail.

Thank you and good luck!

Ooops. Yahoo! Mail can't load

This is most likely a minor browser malfunction. The simplest fix is to "clear your temporary files" on that browser. A test is to open a completely difference browser (say you normally use Opera, then open Internet Explorer and see if it works there). If it does, then the problem is in your browser.

Anyway, to clear the temporary files that are involved in a malfunctioning website, you need to go to another website that is "ok" and then follow the instructions in your browsers help file for clearing its temporary files.

Cannot get email

This is a very common problem. Upgrading you iphone firmware if it's not current may solve this problem. Or try changing your address for the account from [email protected]" to your yahoo id without the "@yahoo.com"

Otherwise the built-in yahoo option for iphone can be buggy:
  1. Delete the Yahoo account on your iphone
  2. Create anew account via Other option
  3. Fill in the usual user id and password fields
  4. Under IMAP tab set Host Name under Incoming Mail Server to imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com
  5. Under Outgoing Mail Server, in Host Name field set it to cwmx.com
If you have a very large yahoo inbox, you may have to do the following:

1. Go to your yahoo account in a regular browser on your computer. Makesure you're using the new version of Yahoo mail (the one that looks andfeels like outlook).

2. Create a new folder. I called mine "archive - inbox".

3. Select ALL emails in your inbox so that your inbox folder will becompletely empty once you move them (there's a box you can check whichwill select everything). I had over 5,000 emails in my inbox, so thiswould have taken ages using the Classic version of Yahoo mail.

4. Move all emails to your newly created archive folder. Go back intothe archive folder and select any unread/new emails and move them backto your inbox.

5. Go into Yahoo on your iphone and refresh the mail. This will clearout the old emails and download the most recent emails from your inbox.
