The picture is very dark

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this. If it were a rear projection TV, I'd suggest a new bulb. Even on a Plasma there are things that can be done. But on a CRT, the repair for a dark screen usually costs more than replacing it.

It coming on and after a couple of seconds cut off

Without a brand AND model number or a better description of the problem, any suggestions would be nothing more than a guess.

Unless you are prepared to repair the TV yourself, professionally performed repair, even simplest ones, will probably exceed the cost of a new LCD replacement set.

Due to X-ray and other safety concerns (equipment and/or people), CRT TVs constantly check the voltages and signals required to make a CRT work. A few seconds grace is allowed during start up but after that, any excessive high voltage (real or imagined) or loss of beam deflection circuits will cause the TV to turn off.

Please do the following:
1. Move the TV to a quiet and preferable totally dark room.
Wait until night if necessary.

2. Stand within an inch or closer to the TV screen.

3. Turn on the TV and look and listen for the following:

a. Whoosh sound and/or head hair attracted toward TV screen
Yes. High voltage activated and charged CRT screen.
No. High voltage failed to activate.

b. Hissing or normal sounds from the speaker(s) while set is on.
Low voltage circuits probably okay. Defective low voltage regulator can cause high voltage to exceed limits.

c. Entire screen briefly lit up or single bright spot at center of TV screen

High voltage worked for a moment then the TV shut off due to over voltage or current problems.

d. Brief bright line from top to bottom or single bright dot on TV screen

horizontal deflection circuits bad
vertical deflection circuits ok
TV shut off due to bad deflection/sweep circuit

e. Brief bright line from left to right on TV screen

horizontal deflection circuits bad
vertical deflection circuits ok
TV shut off due to bad deflection/sweep circuit

It would be helpful for you to perform the above "up close and personal turn the TV on test" and report what happened.

The screan is too dark while I am watching tv

If a conventional picture tube type set it will have a high voltage transformer inside with a focus and "screen" control--in this case the screen needs to be adjusted up slightly.

Adjustment is inside the set so you have to have back off and be careful as high voltage is present when set is on (need it on to adjust the screen control just up a tiny bit).

Jvc 27'' TV is too dark

There are two small holes on the rear side through which you can adjust focus and screen. Use a flash light and locate the two adjustable slots inside the holes. This part carries high voltage. Do not use a metal screwdriver to adjust. Put the TV facing a mirror so you can see how it works. Do not turn more than 1/8th of a turn. The focus control makes picture sharp or fuzzy. Screen control could change brightness. While watching the picture in the mirror, slightly adjust the screen control. Do not turn too much. If it doesn't work, then call a JVC authorized repair center.

Tv won't turn on-red blinking light

This is the most common death mode for TV's. The high voltage is acting up. You set is not quite 10 years old right? Can be fixed, but involves replacing the Flyback transformer which is not cheap. It is a toss-up as to whether it is worth putting the $200 or so it will cost to fix into a set that has limited expected lifetime.

Dark Picture

I'm not sure how to help you with this one as the unit you describe does not match the one listed in the thread. You talk about a WTV1903 TV but a Sony KV-27S42 is listed. One thing is for sure no matter which model you have you should never exceed the manufacturers rating for the fuse (which is not meantioned). You stated that a 4 amp fuse (12V) blew so you put in a 5 amp. You never raise the fuse rating. Larger means more current draw and the possibility of a fire. First put the correct size fuse in. It should be listed on the circuit board or in your literature. If the picture is dark either the CRT is bad or the High Voltage or screen drive is low or both. The fact that it is blowing fuses indicates that something is not working properly. You need to check the CRT with a tester. If good, check the High Voltage for the correct value. If this is good you could have a partially shorted flyback. If you are not qualified to work on these circuits, (they are dangerous) have a qualified tech do it. Good luck and don't put larger fuses in in the future!
