Sky plus Why is it that when I put say channel 4 for recording it comes up with "No satellite signal is being received" But when Record is deleted the signal comes back. The oddity is striking especially when a recording has been set for 1700 hrs! Somedays there are recordings but on most it states Recording failed. Thank you gobabs

My video will play videos but will not record model dvp3350v/o5

Unfortunately since you are receiving the TV visuals and sound on the TV your tuning of the VCR tuner is correct. Hence the recording is not functioning. To confirm this further use an external source and through the video in/audio in try to record. if there is still no recording happening we have a problem in hand which may need expertise. You will need to check on the headd amp/ the video processing and the modulation using a scope to trace the failure of the signal. Normally the fault may lie with this section and the replacement of the IC will be necessary. However if the video in recordings were OK, the the mode selection/ digital switching IC may be defective. You will have to trace this out from the VIF/SIF section of the vcr Tuner. Hope this advice helps. Good day

I am having problems with my Tascam Da-88 8

Maybe you could just clean the heads. If anything visible comes off they're TOO dirty. Or or look at it yourself with a strong light source and see the wear by evaluating reflections from the head surface.

Samsung sr150m dvd recorder, using discs panasonic dvd ram 120min 4.7gb rewritable. problem is that it stops recording after 20 seconds or so. like this from new. it does record sometimes. could it be poor...

First are you using the right kind of DVD recordable disc for your machine? For instance is it a + recorder and you are using - disc?
On the reception issue, can you see a good picture or does it break up sometimes. If it does break up it could make the recording stop. If you are using a digital TV signals, I suggest you get an aerial like below and hook it up with satellite co-axial cable.

We can' record while watching another tv channel.

You only have one digital tuner so will have to watch analogue whilst recording or view through the TV tuner if you can.

Distorted recording of Record Albums

Are you talking about trying to transfer them to computer?
If you are what might be happening is that the signal from the deck to the computer is too strong. The way to cure this is by reducing the signal on the control panel of your computer. For instance I use SoundMAX and it as record input slider, which can be reduced to cut the signal from outside audio sources. I also switch off the graphic as adding bass etc to a recording can cause problems.

How do i connect toshiba RD-XV48DTKB TO sky plus so that I could copy the programs on the sky plus hard drive to a dvd

If you connect the output that normally goes to tv to the input on the recorder, output from recorder to input on tv, you should be able to record.

You inset a blank tape.

Tune the VCR to the channel or input source you desire to record.

Press the "REC" or "RECORD" button on the front panel or remote control. Everything should work out ok.

Pace Sky plus box

You have 2 choices, software reset or hardware reset. It's up to you what you try, but please read the advice in full before starting - if you break your box, please don't blame me!

The following is copied from

This is useful if your disk usage percentage doesn't go down even after clearing programmesfilms off.

The following is offered on an ADVICE only basis, take care when making changes:

WARNING following this advice is totally at your discretion and anything which happens to your digibox as a result is your responsibility, not mine. You will lose all recorded programmes from your Sky+ Planner.

Sky tech support can talk you through performing a system restore over the phone. To do this yourself, press 'services' on your Sky plus remote, then select option 4. Next press 0, 1, select - you should now see the engineer's menu. Choose option 8, 'Full System Reset'. The box will now take a few minutes to reset itself

Try pausing or recording again, and if the problem persists disconnect the digibox from the mains power. Press and hold the 'left' and 'right' navigation buttons on the front of the digibox whilst you reconnect the mains power. Continue holding the buttons in for about 20 seconds, and when the ring of light on the front comes on, press the 'select' button on the front of the digibox (between the left and right buttons you were holding). The Sky+ recording logo lights will spin backwards and, according to the Sky engineer, this will "clear the hard drive".

Once this is done, disconnect the digibox from the mains power again and this time press and hold the 'back up' button whilst you reconnect the mains power. Continue holding it for about 15 seconds until 3 lights on the front of the box come on and you get a full-screen message saying "Updating system software. Do not disconnect mains supply or satellite dish."

Leave the digibox doing its thing for about 10 minutes and it should be fixed! Try pausing and recording things again... hopefully you've just saved yourself £65

If you've not been so lucky, you'll have to get Sky to fix it for you. Some people report that if you ask to cancel your subscription Sky sometimes offer a free callout to fix the problem - you're more valuable to them as a paying customer than the cost of an engineer callout

Sky customer service's (seemingly unpublished) freephone number. You need to dial 0800 731 6965, then option 2, option 4 March 9, Sky have closed this Freephone number
Copied from

Full System Reset via front panel:
  1. Remove power at mains.
  2. Hold LEFT+RIGHT.
  3. Apply power, wait for ring to light.
  4. Release LEFT+RIGHT, press SELECT.
  5. Ring cycles backwards while disk is quick formatted.
  6. If format sucessful PLAY lights up, if not RECORD lights up.
  7. Box goes into standby - wait 30 seconds are wake it up.

Warning: Full System Reset deletes all your recordings and planner entries.

Good luck!
