>first try to power reset the fax machine, then see if the error still persist..to to a power reset unplug power cord from the back and wall outlet then wait 30 sec and then plug it back
>if the error still persist open the the rear access door and check the if there is any jammed paper in there.using a lint free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water wipe the rollers clean. also check if there is a paper jam from the inside of the printer by opening the cartridge access door
>If there is no paper jam and it gives you a paper jam error message then try to check if the carriage can move freely, first while the printer is on open the cartridge access door of printer cover, the carriage will move to the center which will give you access on it, now unplug power cord from the back of printer with out pressing the power button off. try to check if there is any debris or paper that is blocking the carriage path. with your fingers try also to move the carriage from left to right and see if it can move freely. if the carriage can not move then you have a carriage jam which causes also the paper to jam, if it can move freely then try printing and see if it will jam again.
>also try to remove and reseat the ink cartridge.
>if this will not resolve the issue try a hardware reset, while the fax is on unplug the power cord from the back with out turning it off. press and hold # and 6 at the same time.while holding the buttons plug back the power cord and wait till you see semi-full or nvn reset when it turns back on then release the buttons. if the machine will not automatically power back on press the power button. it should ask for you to select language, region etc a proof that you have successfully done the reset..try printing...
>if it jams again contact hp and ask for replacement if it is still in warranty if its not ask for an upgrade
