Hi, just wondering if you have suggestion on our plasma TV. There are vertical lines on both side of the screen and only the center portion is viewable. It started with 1 line then after 2 days more lines coming out. TV is Sony XBR-MBT-XBR900 (Media unit) and the TV screen serial number is PDM-4200-2102045 Model 2003. Could you help me figure out the problem before bringing it to the shop. Is it the thermo fuse? Thanks a lot

there are several reasons why picture of crt monitors did not display good picture. if your monitor had horizontal line at the center of the screen?...the faulty is in the vertical deflection, check the vertical oscillator also the fusible resistors & capacitors around that section. if there had vertical line at the center of the screen?..check the horizontal deflection, horizontal output transistor also check the YOKE.
This problems must have to take the tv aparts and resolders all the joints that help and support the plasma screen for picture. This require tools and some basic soldering skills and some machanical skills to take the tv aparts and putting it back together again after done all the resoldering joints that supports for the plasma screen for the picture. This problems has nothing to do with the tv Plasma Gases. This problems 100% repairable,If u have no electronic tools or know basic soldering works.Best get a best price estamate and repair by a tv shop by a tv Tech.
I had the same problem -red, vertical bars along the right side of my Samsung 42" Plasma- and this is what fixed it: Removed unterminated cable. I had hooked up an HD video camera to the set about two weeks ago. While I disconnected the camera I left the other end of the connector cable plugged into the T.V.. As I've since learned from friends who work in television, this is what's called an "unterminated cable" -meaning one end is unconnected. It can lead to problems with electrical interference and appears to have been the problem in this case; When I disconnected this cable from the T.V. the red bars went away. So, check your cables. Make sure everything is properly connected and get rid of anything that might be picking up interference.
